Your creation is still reaching others! My little girl is about to turn 10. She was diagnosed at age 4. I know EXACTLY how you felt when you finally had the diagnosis. I love what you said about not wanting to change your son, but you would change the world for him. I feel the same way! Good luck to you and yours in the future! Autism makes life more challenging for certain. But the absolute WHOLE HEARTED love they give to you is without measure! They are truly special souls!

This is going straight into my wallpaper folder. I know two people who have been diagnosed with Autism and one who probably has Asperger's syndrome, though she hasn't been diagnosed.

That's very powerful.
You know, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, (- Wikipedia ) when I was eleven. It is on the spectrum of autism, and for years my parents had to deal with not knowing what was wrong with me, before finding out. It was the same year I was put into foster care.
I have lived my life being in your son's shoes, the other side, experiencing my parent's reactions as you have reacted and are struggling with, among others, and the difficulties such a mental complication brings.
My childhood was just shitty. My parents could not deal with my disability. That is why I was put in a foster home. If I could give any sort of support, or even a plea, it is to learn as much as you can about your son's condition and use that knowledge to glean patience, and be as good a parent to your kid as possible. Because your dream of bringing a life into this world and him having it better than you ever did, and having a better and more carefree childhood was dashed, but my dream, the dream that every kid has without even knowing it, was the dream of a happy and carefree childhood, and it was destroyed as well.
It is another example of my experiencing what your son may experience. Joe, you can have another child and still fulfill your dream. My dream is lost forever.
Even better, you can still fulfill your dream with Logan. You can still give him a great, happy, nurtured, supportive and carefree childhood. You still have the chance to do that. Stay by him, and don't give up on him like my parents gave me up.
Please.
(Logan is a wicked name, by the way. It reminds me of Snake Logan, the mutant-fighting hero from BioMenace... )
...And, uh... great art piece! lol

True enough! Too many...hell WAY to many uniformed people out there just dismiss the autistic child as "just being difficult" or "maladjusted and unruly" and if they only new the truth, it would change how they deal with autistic children so greatly! That's why when our son goes to school this coming September we are going to have a letter written to the principle and his teacher, and one each for every child's parents introducing Logan to them and explaining how the best way to help him out when in class so that he can get the most out of his schooling and not just be ignored because he is "wierd" as a lot of kids who also don't know would put it! We were told by one of the therapists he sees that kids really do reach out to help, and if they just know the situation that they would really want to do their most to help Logan, hence having the letter to explain to them everything that is going on with him! I hope it works!

Thanx a lot for the comments! We had him into his school there a few weeks ago and he did soooo well it's amazing. He was interacting and communicating with the other kids and actually asked them questions and whatnot...it was really comforting to see! We also got some good new just the other day, that they are going to be fencing in the playground and the field and everything now at the school cause he's going to be there. That was really comforting! Thanx for the well wishes and ttyl.

Thanx for that! That really sounds like a great idea! I would love to see it when it's done! Ya our boy has a little streak of evil bratiness in him to, but sometimes it's really funny!!
