Description With every breaking dawn
A brand new child is born
Someday they’ll be full of hopes and dreams
It won’t be very long
Until they move out on their own
Cause that’s the way that life's suppose to be

But something isn't right
There’s a lost look in their eyes
Their crying out - why can’t you just see

I’m In Here
When the joy turns to crying
See the world through my eyes for just a moment in time
I’m In Here
Don’t you know I’m trying
To find a way to show you who I am

So through the years
Through triumph and through tears
These are the ones who will make their own way
They touch you deep inside
Where your love just cannot hide
Just open your heart and hear them say...

The world may be cruel in my times of desperation
Can’t find the words to express how I feel
So I strike out in pain and frustration
I might not speak but my feelings are so clear

-Lyrics from "I'm In Here"

I'm In Here

APRIL 2nd is WORLD AUTISM DAY Help spread the word about the most overlooked, overshadowed condition on the planet! I am not on a side, I know there are those who would love to have Autism cured, and then there are those that strongly disagree with "a cure", realizing that they can cope with their condition and feel it makes them a stronger example for those suffering any mental condition.

I DO however think that this condition needs more support. From every level of Government the support through funding and training should be there, free of charge, to help those with Autism and those families who have to look after those who have it severely!

If I asked you to name 3 of the worst diseases on the planet, it would be a no brainer to most, Cancer, Diabetes and AIDS....but did you know that Autism has now taken top spot away from those three, having more children diagnosed with Autism, than are diagnosed with Cancer, Diabetes and AIDS combined!! Sounds shocking! It really is!!

Currently 1 in every 150 children born today is diagnosed with Autism! According to the Earth Sciences textbook, the worlds population increases by 200,000 every day! That means 1,333 of those children born will be diagnosed with Autism! Those numbers are staggering compared to the amount of help and support there is out there for parents of these children.

I recently attended a meeting with the Autism Intervention Program workers in the area I live in. They are currently providing PRT (Pivotal Response Training) PRT Website for children with Autism here for free, something a lot of parents, especially in the US, end up paying hundreds of thousand of dollars for. But the cost isn't the point, the point is why there isn't more funding from governments to help those who need it. During the meeting to explain PRT to parents who have a child with Autism, they were all told that only 5 children would be receiving the training, because that was all the government had alloted to spend on it. There were 65 parents there...65 kids with Autism...65 lives depending on that training, and only 5 would get it! Can you imagine what the other 60 parents, who may not know how to deal with a child with special needs, or know enough about Autism itself to be able to help their child on their own, must have felt like!!

It's not getting any better!! My son was diagnosed in 2003 and at that time it was every 1 in 165 babies born that were diagnosed. Now it's 1 in every 150. He was three when diagnosed, he barely spoke, at three "mommy" was his first and only word. He didn't play with others, staying to himself. He was just his own little person in a very confusing world, and we had no idea what to do to make it better for him. All we could do is try and educate ourselves, and remember to be extra patient. But then we got a call saying Logan was chosen to go through the PRT program. We were ecstatic! It was hard on him, and us really, in the beginning, but we persevered. And today we couldn't have been more blessed. He's a totally different person. We can have conversations with him, he loves attention and plays well with others, he's in school, at the top of his class, and excelling in a few areas, he even goes to school on the bus all on his own! He does homework and uses a his mothers laptop to play games on! And now, his doctors believe he has a photographic memory, because of his displays of memories from soooo far back! He's an amazing little handful that we wouldn't trade for the world.

And that's why, with the proper amount of education, and awareness and support, we can all show how important it is for every aspect of government to get involved! There should be a National Autism Registry in every country, set up with cash put in from the government, so that when a child is diagnosed, they register and that money is there waiting. It doesn't go to the parents, but to the trainers and educators to help the parents and the children learn to cope! Forget spending money on wars that don't and didn't have to be fought, or $400,000 on toilet seats, or anything else the government is frivolously spending money on!

SPEND IT ON THE FUTURE! SPEND IT ON THOSE THAT WILL BE THE FUTURE INHABITANTS OF THIS PLANET, THE FUTURE TEACHERS, DOCTORS, PUBLIC SERVANTS, ACTORS, MUSICIANS, PLUMBERS, ELECTRICIANS, LAWYERS, NURSES, DENTISTS, ETC; BECAUSE WITH THE PROPER FUNDING AND TRAINING, THAT'S WHAT THOSE DEALING WITH AUTISM TODAY COULD AND CAN BECOME!!

AMEN!

I LOVE MY ASBIES LITTLE BROTHER!! (Asbergers = a mild branch of austism)

I have autistic friends, and they are AWESOME! One of the sweetest girls I've ever met was autistic. ^^ Autistic people ROCK!

But yes, more people need to understand the condition.... far to often I see people making fun of the autistic (or the school system saying that they're stupid and can't learn, and thus they don't even try to teach them. >.<).

Thank you, Thank you so much for this wallpaper!!
My son has Autism and has to work twice as hard all his life in everything. This month he graduates from high school, winning two awards and a $1,000.00 FASA scholarship.
Moving on to college will be even a bigger challenge but his proof, it can happen if the right people, teachers and family are there to help him along the way!
Your wallpaper is a wonderful reminder of that.

This is awesome. I love the collective puzzle piece you did as well. This is something that more awareness needs to be brought to. Not enough attention is being done to address the problems, that if they were funded 3 trillion. Well the problems, conditions and illnesses of the world could be solved. I'd be perfectly fine having our country going into decades of debt to solve those problems.

If at the very least, something could be done so these problems are kept in remission. Whether it was autism, cancer or AIDS; people wouldn't have to worry about the problem being such a threat.

Blame the governments! They have "contributions" given to them each and every year by big businesses, and one of the biggest, are Pharmaceutical Companies. If the governments allow cures for these illnesses to be released to the masses, Pharmaceutical companies, would go out of business because there would be no need for their pills the provide to prolong the lives of people living with the diseases. If they go out of business, the governments would loose their take in the windfall that the companies take in.

I'm am positive that there has been a cure for Cancer and Aids as well as other diseases since probably the 50's or 60's, and that the research and cures have been done away with, because of the $$ loss consequences!!

That is unless you have the connections, and a large enough cash flow yourself to pay for a cure! Now you may think that last comment was out of left field, but think of Magic Johnson!! He's had AIDS now since the early 90's! Have you seen him lately? He looks like he's in better health than he was when he played Basketball. He hasn't dropped an once of weight, if not gaining some, which is totally backwards from what HIV does to a person, because it makes them WANT to stop eating. He does all kinds of charity things and has been staying in the public eye ever since his diagnoses! But he just doesn't seam to get any sicker!

And all the research that you hear about and all the "breakthroughs" I'm sure are just a front, for "we'll make them think we are trying, even progressing, but they are never going to get a cure as long as we still have some room in our pockets to fill, and wars to fight, and spy satellites to launch, and Bin Laden's to find etc."!! It's rediculous! If the people actually knew all of what was going on, I mean besides what the governments let the media let us know, there would be total and complete anarchy!

Crazy eh!!
