Description
A memorial to the gonzo journalist Hunter S Thompson who died in the spring.Even though I've only read a couple of his books, I was still shocked by his death. I always assumed he was invincible. I figured that if he did die it would be from drug UNDER-dose. Not from... well... if you don't know how he died, then that's probably better. Needless to say, I thought twice about having him holding a gun in the picture.
Anyway, I hope the Thompson fans out there enjoy this.
Edit: Hunter's funeral was this last weekend. If you haven't already heard his ashes were shot out of a cannon over his property in Colorado. To commemorate that event I added the gonzo fist flying over the top of the picture. I also added my new signature onto it.

ah yeah, i remember watching the news when is portrait flashed briefly whilst my reaction was still on hold. dont you just wish you could've done something or heard about him more before his recent misfortune? looks good though, dan. a lot like him, if not more mafia-like.

Well I was already a fan before all that stuff happened. I always looked up to him a bit (except for the ridiculous drug consumption, more for being completely nuts). He was such a crazy dude that I'm sure there's nothing that anyone could have done about it all the misfortune.

Yeah. It sucks he's gone. I think that the overall wierdness of the world dropped a couple notches on that day.

Yeah, it happened in Feb. but the funeral was on Saturday. Crazy stuff.
Oy, and I know what you mean about the news. I still pay attention to it though, but then I usually end up getting really angry and I start verbally abusing the radio or newspaper that I'm reading.

Well, I did like Fear and Loathing too (Gilliam is one of my favorite directors). I must say that I am a Thompson fan. I only wish I could be as original as that guy (without the aid of all the drugs).

The great Dr. of gonzo journalism would be proud. I had the same thoughts when I heard about this great loss. He was one of my heroes. I also thought he was invincible.
