Description I like the "creative process" on this one. It went something like this (keep in mind, this is all internal monologue):

"Dude, I/you really need to do a drawing of Gonzo. He's one of my/your favorites. Ever." So I stuck him in there. "Now how am I going to work in the chickens? He could be balancing the chickens. And they could be balancing a hand grenade. NO! Hammer. Yes." In go the chickens. "What should Gonzo be balancing on? A nail? No. What then?" That's when I walked in my room, and sitting next to my X-box was my Sam Eagle action figure.

"Brilliant!"

Anyway, Gonzo really is one of my favorite characters ever invented, in any form of entertainment. I took one of those online "Which Muppet Are You?" quizzes, and it told me I was Fozzie though. Oh well. That actually fits much better.

Well thank you very much. It's a bit of an oldy for me, but I really like the way that the composition turned out.

Thank you! haha. Sam was a last minute addition in there, but I really think he's the one that makes the whole drawing work.

The Great GONZO! Ah, yes! With his lovely assistants Camilla, Stacey, Babara, and Sam Eagle!

"Ready Margaret? ... GREAT! Ready girls!?"

*the chickens start clucking the William Tell Overture*

... he's SO awesome like that.

"Tonight I will perform a feat of lunatic daring!" I've always wanted a chance to say that in real life. I love Gonzo. This really made my day. Also, I think I had a crush on Sam Eagle when I was five.

Holy crap. I'm ashamed of myself now for never screaming that before going off a sled jump or swinging on a rope swing.

Gonzo is my favorite! He's so off-the-wall half of the time, and then the other half of the time he's a really sympathetic character. Well, perhaps the scale is more 95/5.

No Swedish chef?

Anyway, better to admire Gonzo, but be Fozzie. There's no need to have a phallus growing from your face. That's just silly.

WonderDookie In reply to hever [2007-06-29 18:05:36 +0000 UTC]

I know. I had to draw the line somewhere. I'm going to just have to do a whole series of Muppet drawings.

hever In reply to WonderDookie [2007-06-30 03:32:59 +0000 UTC]

Yes. Yes you do. And you must include the Swedish Chef. And Statler & Waldorf.

WonderDookie In reply to hever [2007-06-30 08:41:14 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah. Rowlf too. He's another of my absolute favorites. I was thinking I just need to do a portrait of Henson with all of the Muppets in the background.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hever In reply to WonderDookie [2007-06-30 21:37:16 +0000 UTC]

yes. that would be sweet.

...or...you could reproduce the fight scene from Anchorman with all the different groups of Muppets...Muppets vs Sesame Street vs Fraggle Rock.
Kermit THE frog (since he's a reporter anyway) could be Ron Burgundy and Fozzie could have a trident. You know that's an AWESOME idea.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WonderDookie In reply to hever [2007-07-01 03:23:59 +0000 UTC]

ha ha. I think if anyone had the trident it would have to be Bouregard though.

Bouregard is one of my absolute favorites. I love his character in Great Muppet Caper as the taxi driver. I think Rizzo would have to be the Paul Rudd character, and I'd put Sweetums as Champ.

That's very true. It would have to be the PBS one, considering they are a bunch of hippies. ha ha. This is becoming the most elaborate spoof of all time.

mack-man88 [2007-06-17 22:19:14 +0000 UTC]

YES! GONZO! He's my favorite of the Muppets. I actually have a stuffed version of him here at my college apartment. I like how you drew him with your style. You've truly captured the wackiness of Gonzo. And then to top it off you've got Sam the Eagle in the picture, who is also one of the best, mainly because he hates everything, but America.

WonderDookie In reply to mack-man88 [2007-06-19 07:17:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't have a stuffed Gonzo, but I do have a couple of action figures. I think I have a stuffed Kermit somewhere at my parents house. I've had the damned thing since I was born.

I wonder if Muppets bleed too. They never really tackled that subject...

Theres not enough Muppets fanart! I dig the colours & them here. Gonzo looks great as does that blue muppet dude-I recognise him, but have no idea of his name!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WonderDookie In reply to ErinHunting [2007-06-17 07:28:21 +0000 UTC]

His name is Sam Eagle. And I agree with you whole-heartedly. There isn't enough Muppet recognition out there.

skanking-rob [2007-06-16 09:33:45 +0000 UTC]

haha this is random and highly enjoyable! Gonzo can quite easily stand on Sam's head balancing hammer chickens and not need any explanation whatsoever

Good work

MsJerltheScienceGirl [2007-06-16 08:38:01 +0000 UTC]

Love it! Sam the Eagle has always been one of my favorites. You captured his lack of amusement very well. I never had a favorite character, I just love the interactions between them. Whenever Kermit explodes on Piggy, I crack up. Character chemistry is everything.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WonderDookie In reply to MsJerltheScienceGirl [2007-06-17 07:26:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I love Sam's disdain for all of the other Muppets. One think I really liked about the newer Muppets Tonight was when Sam would get stuck doing a "point-counter-point" debate with Piggy's idiot nephews. Those were excellent.
