Description My entry for fox swap!  This is Dead-Raccoons fox, a lovely fennec I decided to depict in her natural habitat.  I think I should have put more colors, like a bit of vegetation to break up the monotony of brown and tan, but I guess that learning for you.

Rocks.  So many rocks.  Why must rocks be so hard for me?

This is very well done. The color, the shading, the friendly expression. I love it!

Thank you very much! I learned a lot with this one--like how rocks are much harder to draw than I thought they would be!

Yes. Rocks. *V* All the rocks!   I have to say, you must have gotten a years worth of practice of rocks in this photo!! It turned out very well! Beautiful! Those layers   Great work on the anatomy !!

Yes, lots and lots of rock practice! I should try drawing real rocks from life so I can get better at them. Most of the rocks here are imaginary.

Wow. It's like you set her free.
I really dislike the enclosure where they are kept, it's inside, small, and rather dark all day. So I am happy see her this way.

Yeah, I'm often sad when I see the conditions that some zoo animals have to live it.  They are much happier with their freedom in the wild.

Holy wow hun, this really turned out so amazingly!!
I love the pose you used for their character, along with how you did the legs and feet.
The background, and detail is really good too!! I also really love the blending of colors.

You really can truly tell you put a lot of time and effort into this, because it really shows.

Edit because I submitted comment to soon)

WooflesArt In reply to JamJams [2015-03-03 03:34:44 +0000 UTC]

Why thank you! I'm super glad my effort showed through, because I spent an obscene amount of time of this. I can never spend much time at once on a picture otherwise my hand and arm start hurting a lot, so I worked on and off for about a month.
As for the pose, I discovered that about 90% of the photos of fennecs are of them curled up asleep (not surprising since they are nocturnal) so it was hard to find a pose photo that I liked!

I've noticed that too, regarding photos.
But I really do think you captured that fennec look so perfectly!

Fennecs are soooo cute. I was watching a documentary about the Sahara and I squee'd when they showed footage of a fennec.  Their ears! THEIR EARS!

The expression is so typically fennec
Great job on the shading here, it looks absolutely plastic. And effort you put into the rocks definitely paid off, the stripes and shapes look so natural. Great job on practicing backgrounds

Thank you! Fennecs are too cute.  If I had to do it again, I'd make the snout a bit narrower, but at least I'm learning to see stuff like that. Yeah, those rocks--oof! I tried to make the strokes align with the 'grain' of the rocks, I'm glad you could tell!

The fox looks good! Fennecs are pretty cute. I don't know about Robez, but I think he looks really good against your reference. Nice, fluffy tail, big ears, good posture in the legs and the head.
