Description Ahh, bureaucracy and big government; two great tastes that taste great together!

Oddly enough, this is actually pretty close to the truth about our food-safety laws here in the US... and you thought your country's politics were silly!

Some food is dangerous though... I think these hamburgers should probably be the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security.

I tried something a little different with the colors here, using a darker skin tone... I realized recently that my white characters are pale enough I think to be considered "sickly". Also I figured I could get away with doing this one now since it's barely political.

If we this actually becomes a reality in the future, I may just move to Russia and never come back XD

In the future? ... This is the current reality... unless they've managed to change the law since I made the comic. I haven't kept track of it.

Oh shit really? They're regulating sandwiches?

If they're being sold pre-made at a supermarket or a convenience store, yeah... they're not without their reasons -- they're food-safety regulations originally, it's just that they've been fouled up by bureaucracy.

Seems like it. Are these were government regulations, market regulations, or both

woohooligan In reply to joeisbadass [2013-12-23 14:54:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure if there were any market regs - I know some of them were government food-safety regs.

I thought it was government regs. Doesn't surprise me the regulation got out of hand. The government does that a lot

Hahahaha, suck it USD and any other 3 letter acronyms in the government!

It's the USDA. USD is the acronym used to mean United States Dollars.

I try to be observant and get to know people. And I'm a Kevin Smith fan too. What's your favorite J+SB movie? Hard for me to pick, but I'm kind of partial to Dogma.

I gotta say J+SB Strike back. it's the one (that I know of) where they get the most screen time

woohooligan In reply to Astro-Creep166 [2013-07-01 18:27:31 +0000 UTC]

I think they came close in Dogma, but yeah, strike-back definitely gives them the most face time. I liked the tongue-in-cheek mention of them being "prophets".

In Strike Back, I love the name they got, 'Clit Commander', it sounds like a name straight out of a sci-fi porno xD

Ewwww those burgers was naaaaasty:S I'm glad here in Norway that the restaurant gets frequent visit from the health department. I used to buy some junkfood after one night of beer drinking in a local place called Sem few times during a year, but then the place was locked down due to bad hygiene:S Oh man, I was lucky not to get sick.

Nice work on the comic Funny

The darker skin tone looks good, and this made me laugh so hard. (My word, those burgers are really scary! I'm sure there's a way to weaponize them and use them to our advantage. ) One thing that catches my eye about this is the mainly blue/brown color scheme. It makes sense, but I was sort of distracted by the fact that their hair matches the table.

Thanks Court!

I'd be afraid if we weaponized those burgers that they'd violate the UN's ban on torture.

Seems like an odd thing to get distracted by tho... I mean... hair is brown... wood is brown... it must happen pretty frequently that a person's hair is a similar shade as a table. My eyes used to be fairly close to sky-blue, although they're more gray now.

razzigyrl In reply to woohooligan [2011-01-31 22:52:46 +0000 UTC]

I'm a hairdresser's daughter, I notice these things. There are different kinds and grades of brown, with differing amounts of red, yellow and green to them. Ash brown is more grey or neutral-looking, is closer to green, and if I recall what my mum taught me, generally tends to cancel out reds. Red browns vary quite a bit, and most of what you have in this image are golden-browns. It's not an uncommon hair color my any means, it just caught my attention.

(which is mostly just to say that I'm easily distracted. )

yeah im pretty careful with what i buy from where, especially if the box says "food product"

also,
actually i think the only problem with ur white characters is the background ^ ^, the background is a pretty light blue, and that tint of blue is also in their skin tone and it makes em look washed out

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

woohooligan In reply to Xadrea [2011-01-28 04:54:30 +0000 UTC]

For some of my recent strips yeah... 'cept for like a couple of strips with my daughter where I used really dark backgrounds... but I think I'm gonna stick with this darker skin tone for most of my white characters from now on. Should help with some other things too -- in that last zombie strip I could barely see the sweat bead because his skin was so light.

Thanks Mel!

I'm glad you're feeling better... I wanted to say something before to try and comfort you, but I was worried it would only upset you more. (Partly because I actually do disagree with a lot of the policy ideas and conclusions I've seen from the Tea Party. - I'm independent myself.) But I really like you and I don't want politics to foul that up.

AshPnX In reply to woohooligan [2011-01-27 21:35:10 +0000 UTC]

My being upset had nothing to do with politics. I'm okay with political debate until someone starts generalizing all people of a political party and saying they should all die.
(As someone did in comment to my journal)
That's a form of hatred I do not enjoy.

But yeah, my issues were of a personal nature.

woohooligan In reply to AshPnX [2011-01-28 00:07:41 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, okay, I feel better now. And I'm glad you do to.

My mom does that with Democrats... she had one bad experience with a sleazebag Democrat attorney and decided that all liberals and all Democrats are evil people bent on the destruction of our country... le-sigh... Yeah, there are Democrats I dislike -- and there are Republicans I like, like David Frum. As polarized as the Republican party is, as much as I think they have a "groupthink" problem as a group, I'm still able to recognize that they're not The Borg, they are still individuals with their own thoughts.
