Description I've actually been working on this thing for a very long time, over 2 years on and off. This is one of those projects that I'll periodically get very enthused about and get a lot done on and then not touch for 6 months.

Anyways, this is my personally designed superheavy tank based off of the GDI Mammoth tank Mk 3 ([link] ). The original construction of the hull sections took about 2 weeks, during which I had to work out the adjustable independent track sections, which while a great concept it turns out that making them actually be functional was far more trouble than it was worth. When its done they will be fixed in place to prevent hassle.

Unfortunately after that stage of early production was finished I ran into two problems. The first one was creating an interior side to the tract sections, which I eventually worked out. While it looks ok and would probably be great once painted this turned out to be a rather overcomplicated solution, requiring about 20 hours of work per track section. Hence why I only have 1.5 of them done...

The second problem was how to design and construct the turret. This took over a year before I finally had a design that I liked. The current form of the turret is rather badass if I do say so myself.

At the moment I think that I will redo the track sections somewhat by taking another 2 land raiders and cutting up 4 more track sections and slapping them together, solving the interior side issue and making my life easier. To account for the increased width as well I'd use shadowsword/baneblade tracks for it then, or something similar.

This model inspired me to make my own tank based heavily on yours. Thanks for giving me a centrepiece for my slowly growing GDI army!!!

Sweat mother of Mary, this thing is amazing. Though I can't wait to see it finished, I totally understand why it is taking so much time.

hey, haven't seen your stuff for quite a while now.\

I just can't help wondering how much money you had to spend to accumulate all those bits... I can't even tell where the turret mainframe comes from.

Nice man. It kinda looks as if you were trying to Warhammerify an Overlord tank from CnC Generals. [link]

Really cool man.

aslways wanted to do this, but never did because i'm a complete nub at modelling. Anywho this is absolutely slap bang on, as it doesn't resemble the mammoth exactly but instead mimics it almost perfectly but still retains a 40k look, truthfully I don't think anyone could do a better job. My hat is off entirely to you sir

Sex on treads. Why not just use the Malcador Super-Heavy rules? Seems to have about the right profile, and the Malcador has TL Battle Cannons of various types IIRC.

WordBearer In reply to GlauG [2011-05-28 01:07:14 +0000 UTC]

I did that at first, but the malcador both isn't a very good tank in its own right and it doesn't fit with this thing's theme. Plus this thing is the same weight class as a baneblade and a malcador isn't.

Having never used the Malcador, I shall take your word for it. I was going purely off of size and general appearance.
