Description
Brought to life in a cottage near the lake from which he takes his name, Scugog is the first Dragon in the Homemade Horror line, and he's got a personality all his own.Top center: Scugog's treasure, don't want to share!"
Top left: "So majestic is Scugog."
Top right: "Go away cats, This is Scugog's perch!"
Middle left: "Treasure all gone..."
Bottom center: "I see... I see... I see you buying fish-snacks for Scugog..."

Scugog is 100% handmade. His body is handsewn faux fur, his belly is layered felt scales, and his head, and feet are sculpted out of polymer clay. He has a was originally constructed with wire & teddy bear joints, however we 'upgraded' him to acrylic armature & ball & socket joints. He's 28 inches from nose to tail, and just over 12 inches standing.
Scugog stands, sits, curls up around his hoard, and even perches on shoulders, much to the cat's annoyance.

Very nice. I love all the different poses. I'll have to try the faux fur on my creations sometime. If I may ask though, how do you apply the fur to the body?

This seriously reminds me of things from my childhood, the weird dark creepy things that we vaugly remember. Like the first time we watched "Neverending Story" or "Unico"(which was a very strange set of films). Its that kind of thing that you remember years later and cant really, but its still very fond. Thats the feeling I get looking at this.

Hah! Well, since we're both huge fans of Jim Henson's work Neverending Story was one of those movies we both watched a lot as kids, that and the Dark Crystal/Labyrinth. I guess the influence is more visible than I thought!
(I had no idea what Unico was, and had to look it up. WHAT IS THIS? Baby unicorns with bunny ears and the power to change people's emotions? I might have to watch this for the sheer wtf factor.)

Ohhh its sooo wonderfully weird, the film where the bad guy makes the people into bricks to make a castle out of.... its like beyond weird, and terrified me as a child, but it also makes me cry from cute ;_; I *believe* I saw it on HBO circa 1986? I recall spending years trying to find out what it was/ finding a place to watch it, but i believe the whole series is on youtube these days. Definatly worth a watch.

I'm not a huge fan of plush with clay features (sorry) - but this is absolutely gorgeous! The face, the fabric, possible poses; it's a perfect wedding of materials. Just wonderful!
