Description I am an absolute history-addict and especially de mediaeval period catches my imagination. This pencil drawing/sketch depicts the madness of a religion induced war such as the world has had to endure since the advent of humanity and religion. The Crusades being a prime example of such madness.

A sad truth. As always, men fight each other under the guise of relegion or righteousness. You'd think we would have learned better by now. We are ruled by money. It's too sad for words really. Luckily we have art to calm our nerves and express ourselves.

Such is the power of group think.  If enough voices say something is the way it is, no amount of logic or attempts to reason with them will change their minds.

It's always the same. One has to find his own place to save hisself from the madness outside I guess.

if only everyone had the same sense you show right now, the world would be a better place.

Alas, the world requires most of us to go outside to get to work and make a living.  It's there that a lot of us find comfort in mingling with the larger society.  Mind control is subtle.

Very well done!
Looks like a drawing you'd find in a novel for "Kingdom of Heaven"!
That must've been what they were thinking.
I'm a "historophile" myself - in particular medieval! So I'm right there with ya.

SolidSamurai In reply to EthalenSkye [2014-11-10 00:27:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes, too bad that medieval history is often glossed over.  Either because it's 'not Rome' or just 'the church controlled everything, so who cares?'

There's even still elements in our society who would be offended when you try to observe the romanticized elements in a more realistic light.  Many people seem to treasure romantic parts of medieval history as somehow being part of their own culture.  Fear for political correctness prevents medieval historians from forging ahead.  And that doesn't even include the subtle propaganda that biased historians will always try to write into medieval history alone.
