Description Just before the arrival of the Rohirrim, when the wind changed and sunlight fought it's way through the darkened sky. It's rays casting light and warmth on the walls of Minas Tirith. Here we catch a Nazgul patrolling the skies over the fields of the Pelennor.

Nice! This looks like a more accurate depiction of Minas Tirith than the movies. I see the dark stone of the first level of wall around the city and the Rammas Echor by the river!

Thanks! And true, could use more reds, browns and yellows to imply the tilled fields of the pelennor. Or just plain plowed through mud from all the armies.

Thanks mate. Not really happy with the Nazgul any more, but I still like Minas Tirith even though it's a bit too much like the movie, which is a beautiful rendition by the way. But the outer walls, well, they are supposed to be black! Plus I think it should be wider in circumference. It's Gondor's capital for centuries, built by Numenoreans, it should be huge. So yeah, some sketching is in order!

Ye true, mean as big as it is, it has to house a city worth of people. In them supposed days how many poeple to a city?? Maybe look back at medieval London or such for a guesstimation?

I know a city like Carcasson in France had around 5000 inhabitants living within it's walls. But that (beautifull) city has a double enveloping wall, not seven concentric rings. Probably qualified more as a town. Some books suggest Minas Tirith City Guard numbered around 2000. Ik think you can then speak of more then 20,000 inhabitants plus folk from outlying farmsteads and villages. Ten percent under arms sounds about right to me in a war torn world.

Gorgeous composition, the dynamic view really adds to the spectacular here. Two points. In contrast to the movies, I love how you make the Pelennor look as it should -- fertile, rich and altogether less desert-like, which was a big no no in my opinion. I also love the scale here, it really gives a sense of the true depth and majesty of Middle-earth... Osgiliath was far too close to Minas Tirith in Jackson's vision, I feel. Well done!

My thoughts exactly on the scale and country side. Thanks for the compliment.

Interesting angle, nice to see the Mordor armies from above.
What are the white walls in the upper left corner? Was the sea so close to Minas Tirith?

Those walls are the Rammas Echor and the Harlond harbour, the water the Anduin river. It was kind of hard to give determine a scale for it.
