Description
EDIT: Now with a background thingy!A card for the upcoming Desucon. I will fiddle around with this to make some kind of background color splash to it later, will probably update this then.
I really like Mienshao. Not only because of its looks (it sure does look pretty) but I've had the chanse to try one out in my PokΓ©mon White game and I've really fallen in love with it. Out of all my 'mons in the game my Mienshao Sai forms one third of my terminator trio (the other two being my Samurott Roa -naturally- and Chandelure Erebus). He can take on pretty much anything and his Regenerator ability is pure awesomeness. I don't need much potions on this guy. ^^ Plus he wears Rocky Helmet in the game, at least once I've seen an opponent 'mon to kill itself by hitting itself against Sai's Helmet.
Those whip hair thingies are fun to draw. Well, I miiiight have exaggerated them a bit, but hey, I had the excuse to draw pretty fwooshy thingies, and I darn well also drew some pretty fwooshy thingies!

Awesome, but the face looks more weaselish than catish...mienshao is a fighting cat. Not a fighting weasel. I like to say that because there are already a lot of weasel pokemon of various types and most cat pokemon are normal type. Generation 5 finally added cats of different types: the dark cats purrloin and liepard(who have awful stats...which makes me mad) and the fighting cats mienfoo and mienshao. Dang, I need to evolve my meinfoo Clawmark if your Sai is that uber! Did he gain Regenerator when he evolved or did he have it when you caught him?
I dont think the hair whips are exaggerated at all

I drew Mienshao as Mienshao. I only referenced the official art and the real in-game sprite while drawing it. I never interpret PokΓ©mon to be real life animals since that often breaks the design. I only use my anatomy knowledge to make it look more alive, and only throw in real animals when the official art and info (such as PokΓ©dex) says so. (Well, other than drawing the arm whips a bit longer than they should be, just because it looks cool.)
Judging from its body shape, head shape, limbs and features, it, however looks a lot more mustelid like than feline, and details, such as its name (in at least three different official translatons in different languages, none of which refer to cats) also hint the same. Where did you get that cat thing?
But yeah, it really is an awesome PokΓ©mon! Sai was caught with Regenerator ability as Mienfoo, so he's had it from the start. He can heal one third of his HP when switched out during battle, and he also has Drain Punch, so I usually don't even have to use Potions on him, he knows his own first aid. xD And he's fast! The only 'mons who might attack faster than him are Zebstrika or Liepard, but since Sai knows Drain Punch, Aura Sphere and Dig, he can easily counter them both.

Actually, I believe it's based on an ermine, a ferret-like creature. Hence the long body, and its name also kind of references it (in both English and Japanese).

This is definitely the best art of Mienshao I've ever seen. Even I can say one of the best in the world!
I love how dynamic it is, also the fur coming from paws. Great!

I really love your interpretation of Mienshao and the elegant movement you gave it in its pose, it's really fitting to its design. The exaggeration of its tufts/whatever is perfect.

I'm flad you drew them how they are. It annoys me how people try and turn them into "wings". I'm fairly certain they're inspired by a type of traditional chinese sleeve dance whose movements would suit tai chi, or what ever other forms of martial arts it's based on.

Wait, what? People actually draw them as wings? Pfffff, come on, both of its Pokedex (and Bulbapedia) entries say it's fur that can be used as whips. It's apparently at least partly inspired by whip fighting, and I bet your guess comes close too. Its looks remind me of long sleeved kimonos, wings didn't even cross my mind.

In all seriousness though, look it up, on youtube especially, to see what it looks like, it's beautiful! Last year some girls in our school did a performance based on it in an asian pride production.
