Description Hey everyone, I've been super busy lately, but I finally managed to get this finished! Samurott Fighter, and what I see a realistic Samurott as in the BG ^^ Hope you like it!

I've really missed your Pokemon Concepts! I was extremely happy to see this in my Inbox. As always, you did an incredible job on this. Again I was surprised to see that you made Human Samurott a woman, since female Samurotts are so rare in the real games. Her outfit looks awesome; I like all the bronze parts, especially her spiky helmet and big spears, and the designs on her boots. Somehow I thought of Princess Kida from the Disney film Atlantis when I saw her--I guess it's because of her white hair. I especially like how you did the Pokemon Samurott--I think it's really creative and clever how you made him look like a real sea lion while still keeping the original Pokemon's defining traits. I also love how you did the movements of water around his horn and tail as he does a spinning dive. The ocean floor background is great, and it looks so realistic!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy my concepts so much, hopefully when work/school dies down a bit I'll get back into the normal flow of doing these ^^ I had so much fun with this one, I think I'm in a female kick, since I've been practicing them a lot lately. (And I nooticed most Samurott Gijinkas are male). I really enjoyed redesigning the Samurott in the BG, I'll definitely be doing that more in the future

You're very welcome! I think it's great how you go against the norm and make usually male characters female instead. It's always a nice surprise

The planning and attention to detail really shows in this piece. Focusing purely on the colours to begin; you've done an excellent job incorporating not only what colours make up Samurott's design, but also where each colour falls on the character. The shading is wonderful as well, with the sharper shading occurring closer to the ground, and the shadow on the floor matching the intensity of the shadows across her body as you move upward. Her posture and action pose do imply a water theme very well, and with a little more work into the shading of the background around her; it may be possible to maker her appear to move as the eyes drift away.

Her attire is quite interesting, with the heart shaped from the vest and her blue top being a very nice idea, though a little extra definition between the vest and top may make this concept easier to identify. The chain and ball between the plates of her legs is a little odd, being the largest point of red in a very blue image has the effect of drawing the eyes to her crotch. The positioning of armour and spikes on her forearms and legs is quite good, though the angles of the two spikes on her legs don't seem to match, which can be a little distracting if it is noticed. The Spearheads/arrowtip weapons are a nice idea, but they appear perhaps a little too big to be realistically usable.

The background works well and suits the theme perfectly. As said before; the floor/bottom of the background works well for the use of shadow, and the lines separating the three sections serve an interesting function in that her positioning over them draws the eye from any part of the image along to her.

Thank you so much for the well thought out critique! It's much appreciated ^^

Full of lots of very helpful advice that will help me improve (such a nice change from most DA critiques), especially the critique about the functionality of some parts of the design, sadly this is one thing I've struggled with for a while, but I'm slowing improving ^^

pretty cool series of characters, its good to have this kind of mini projects also try to have more variations in colors and dont put to much black in your colors. this is just an general feedback, all the best

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I began to realize this flaw in my painting style a few weeks ago, after I spent the past few weeks doing a handful of colour studies a day, I think I've finally got a better handle on colour variance, and not overusing black to shade.

Indeed, you don't see many female Samurott as well, but this is quite good
