I’ve received a couple of requests for a Sandman art, and that’s enough for me to work on one since I had been longing to see how I’d do if I try to draw Morpheus and/or any of his Endless siblings. Well, now I know, and I’m proud and pretty satisfied.

Drawn for 7 straight hours using a very cheap ballpoint pen (about $0.20), over very loose sketch using an H pencil on 11x17 3-ply Bristol. No markers even for the solid blacks, for I was trying to achieve the “etched look” which, modesty aside, was personally liked and praised by Neil Gaiman himself (I wish I could find the means to show this to him, see if he’d like it). I can still feel my swollen hand trembling though, but it’s good to have released some of the pain and the emotions I’m dwelling in at the moment.

Been thinking of what to write on Death’s book while my hand was tirelessly gliding up and down the Dream Lord’s coat, and I thought of just writing down the first 15 names of Sandman creators that came in to my mind. And speaking of Dream’s overcoat, I copied the idea of putting on some faces, perhaps of those sleeping people who are dreaming at the moment, from Kieth and Dringenberg’s page where Dream met John Constantine. I loved the idea the first time I saw it, and I thought it would be nice to use it to practice drawing different faces in various angles.
