"Scar", African Lion, Brother of the Pridelands King
"Life's not fair, is it?"

this cat is gay and there's nothing you can do about it. Scar is one of those characters that people still gravitate to 20+ years after his conception. I'm a little hard pressed to decide whether or not Scar is actually as deep as we all think, but he has a lot of potential, and I think the reason he's spawned so much fanfic and headcanons and all that is because of that near boundless potential. Anyway, I like Scar's characterization. Some people complain about him being the laziest, most ineffectual authoritarian ruler when he does gain the throne, but I think that's the only sorta king he could be. Scar is, and always has been, a sniveling, spiteful brat. He doesn't care about responsibility or even respectability, he just wants a flashy title and the right to consider himself special. He's the king, so he can do whatever he wants.

I mentioned on Zazu's design that I think realism should influence design instead of dictate it, and I took that to heart here too. 2019 Scar is unrecognizable in both appearance and demeanor. So much so that I cannot see 1994 Scar and 2019 Scar as the same person. One is a swishy, boney, pitiful little narcissist and the other is a violent, brooding sociopath. At least the original has nice hair! So Scar maintains his darker coat and darker mane, real life lion beauty standards be damned. As if having a darker mop on his head would detract from his total lack of muscle tone anyway. Also, his namesake beauty mark is multiple scratches instead of one because I felt like it, and if you pay close mind to it, you may see a resemblance between his "socks" and Simba's. I'm intrigued at the idea of more of Scar showing through Simba (and further on Simba's children) then anyone is comfortable with. After all, wasn't it that kid who said "I thought a king could do whatever he wants?"
