This feels like a dream. It's all so sudden...

When I discovered Dead Fantasy, I thought it was the most mind-blowingly amazing thing, and it was made by just one person. Monty Oum. I saw an FAQ of his, where he was asked what degrees and training he had. He said he was a high-school drop out and that everything he did was self-taught.

I'm a high-school drop out. I've done a lot of things self-taught, too. He always blew my mind. He was the literal epitome of what I could be if I applied myself and had the courage. I've always dreamed about being like him. So focused and efficient and freaking talented. I've always looked up to him.

Rooster Teeth is an extremely big part of my life. Something I often forget, though, is how I discovered it. Monty. I followed him because of Dead Fantasy, which went into hiatus. After being MIA for ages, Monty posted a journal linking to Red vs Blue Season 8 Episode 10: This One Goes to Eleven along with saying "this is what I've been working on the last six months." I'd never heard of Red vs Blue and I was skeptical, but I knew that if Monty had worked on it, it would be incredible.

I was right. I immediately fell in love and Red vs Blue became my favourite show. I came to learn more about Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunter. Now here we are, almost five(?) years later and these things are a part of my soul. The majority of my favourite people in the world work at Rooster Teeth. They are largely my reason for living. They are the reason I get out of bed. And I'd never have found them if I never found Monty.

I need to try harder, to push myself, to be like him.

It's hard to form words. I've been crying a lot. It still doesn't feel real.

Thank you, Monty Oum. Thank you for simply existing. You've impacted me and my life far more than I'd ever realized and I will always love you for that.
