Description So... I just got a new Intuos3 Wacom tablet for Christmas and I thought I'd test it out. I'm pretty dang happy with the end results! Yes. So this is my big golden dragon. I tested out some new scale patterns on this guy, and I think they turned out pretty good too. Yeah, and by making this fellow I've accidently started a series of dragons made of precious stones. Before this golden dragon came and obsidian dragon... and next I'll make a diamond... er silver er something dragon. Yup. Hope ya like him!!! ^^

Oh, and this picture was inspired by the incredible work of the incredible artist, Delgaris (I think that's his name). I stumbled accross one of his pictures one day, and his "beaked" dragon style was stuck in my mind at the time when I made this... that's why it might look similar to something of his. Just to clear that up, some people wondered that.

EDIT: Oh happy day! This got me a Mod's Choice on Elfwood.

Actually when I pulled it up I though it was Delgaris' work lol, so that should make you proud, I had to double check the name before I realized it was merely a base from that hahaha.

The detail is very well done, all of the intricate little spikes on the face are too, and that glowing eye, just excellent!

This is beautiful! My only peeve is that your resolution is too small at 800 x 600px. Other than that, it's totally worthy of the Mod's Choice on Elfwood. I wonder what you can do with a more advanced program like photoshop...

Is an Intuos 3 better than an intuos 2? I am thinking of an upgrade.

Thank you! Yeah, I'm not too great with sizing and resolution; I just pick a size and wing it. ^^ Oh, I have photoshop elements, came with my tablet, but all the buttons and stuff confuse me and I'm not too fond of the setup.

I'm pretty sure Intuos 3 is better, but I'm not sure as it was my first tablet. I like it, sensitive and smooth and it comes with different pen tip points and software.

Everyone tells me it's smoother than the Intuos 2, and the different pen tips will change the way I paint. I am 'iffy', but gotta go try it now.

Photoshop's learning curve leaves a lot to be desired. If you have itunes, subscribe to a free podcast called photoshop.tv - or go to 'www.photoshop.tv' to download free episodes. They have great tips and will help with the learning curve. You hav tremendous talent - talent that can run much farther with better software.

I have a feeling, one day you'll be a photoshop guru and you'll thank me.

Can you make 'custom brushes' with the program you're using? I'm going to maybe post some brief tutorials in my journal (to help me improve my own techniques too).

Whoa....sweet dragon. Congrats on the mod's choice!! This looks beautiful, the detail and the colours are so rich, I like the background colour too; it brings a warm and elegant feel to the portrait. ^^

The detail is great like the scales and the colors all work nicely. The head proportions are nice too and I like how it blends at the bottom! The border is even nice!
