Description Managing to finally get herself standing, slumped against the support-beam which imprisons her, Cody focused on working her wrists free of the cords which bind them. For a scant few moments, at least. But she had barely managed to stay ahead of the surging water, and all-too immediately it begins to press up against her chin. Struggling up onto tiptoe, the beleagured catgirl fights for just a little more time, until she feels the ropes around her wrists snag on something, preventing her from rising more than a few more inches! Frantic heartbeats of groping, fumbling investigation tell her that it is a nail - old, rusty, and thick, impaled deep into the back of the wooden column. As chilly water slops against her chin yet again, Cody cannot stifle the scream of frustration-laced terror which tears from her throat.

But then an idea comes to her like the sun rising over the horizon, and she feels a fresh gush of hope. Working feverishly, Cody begins to saw the ropes against the rough surface of the nail. Only one thought rings through her mind: This had to work! And as the water lapped against her bottom lip in spite of the fact that she had her head tilted back as far as it would go, she knew that it would have to - or she was done for...

*melodramatic piano music plays* Is this the end for our brave heroine? Will the basement of her own home become her watery tomb? Has the artist (if he can be called that...) taken up too much of your time with an overly-long series? Tune in next time to find out!

If all goes well, we should have the answer to that question by tomorrow afternoon...

But it doesn't look good for her, does it?

Bravo! I really liked the way you showed the situation slowly progressing from bad to worse... and also, that there does seem to be a way out for her at the end.

Hey, thanks again, my friend. And, thanks once more for the suggestion (unintentional though it may have been). Makes me very happy that you found the progression good (suspenseful?).

But it ain't quite over yet...just left things on a bit of a cliffhanger. There's about 3 more pieces in the series, and then I'll stop beating ya over the head with it.

Hey, there's always a chance...especially for the resourceful heroines... Now to see if she can make good on it.

(Compliment is much appreciated.

To answer that 3rd question. Not at all.

This series is a landslide victory. Mega props.
