Wings? Did you mean wig? Thanks anyway!

Angel wings, angel face... That kind of thing.

Oh whoops! I only just realised you were commenting on my Neo Queen Serenity cosplay! I get you now!

ORZ" A lot of people have been commenting on my Hanon cosplay, and assumed this feedback message was one as well. Shows I don't pay much attention

You make a really pretty Queen Serenity! (and Usagi) I want to meet with you someday when I dress up as Sailor V again or as Mercury.

D'aww thanks! I'm going to the London Expo in October, but I see you live in the USA. I went there last August, uber awesome!

Oh... Aw, when are you coming back? Hopefully you can go to a convention such as Anime Expo or Fanimecon here!

I was so close to going to Anime Vegas, but the day it was hosted, my family and I had to leave for LA.
My parents are going to New York in December, but they're taking my brother this time.

Whenever I get a job I can start saving to go back the US as I'd love to go to a convention there!

Aw, I heard that Anime Vegas is pretty cool!

You should totally try contacting me if ever you plan on going to a con here!

Very nice cosplay, I love the back wings/bow especially!

x-steffi-x In reply to bunnybeth [2011-04-19 08:29:17 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, in all honesty, those wings caused me more problems than the dress
Kind of ruined the costume when wearing it, at least it gives me an excuse to make another.

bunnybeth In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-04-21 05:00:51 +0000 UTC]

I can believe that, my bow is tiny in comparison and it was still a pain to figure out how to attach. Darn anime -> real world physics!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-steffi-x In reply to bunnybeth [2011-04-21 08:52:53 +0000 UTC]

But you did the Manga version of NQS, whereas I've doner the anime - and her bows are much larger.
I attached a lot of snaps to the big sash of the bow and to the back of the dress, then I just threaded transparent thread through the top of the wing and tied them around my shoulders to keep them upright.

Yeah, creating cosplays takes a lot of thinking and working out, it's like being in school again

I'd rather have done a smaller bow like yours than the huge one I made, it was a pain to walk around with. Manga version looks so much prettier, like yours *_*

bunnybeth In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-04-21 21:02:31 +0000 UTC]

The manga art varies a lot, and there is some of NQS with a larger bow/wings in the back. I thought about trying to do it more like that, but am glad I didn't in the end. It had to be difficult to do anything with all those snaps and threads around.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-steffi-x In reply to bunnybeth [2011-04-21 21:05:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the threads kept falling and I had to keep getting my fiance to pull them back up since I was too busy hiking my dress up to be able to walk
I think I'll do Princess Serenity next since I enjoyed making that type of dress and at least she doesn't have annoying wings

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-16 19:00:36 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Took me aaaages. Sad thing about this costume? Wings caused more havoc than the dress ._.;;
But it's flowy :3

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-17 00:08:53 +0000 UTC]

Wings'll do that. I remember an Illybeans (Illidan, if you're a non-Warcraft person XD) at Otakon who had five foot long demon form wings and he almost got glomped to death and caught in doorways, so yeah, wings can suck logistically.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-17 07:46:48 +0000 UTC]

Ah, they weren't that massive, and I made sure to walk sidewards as to not hit people with them, but still, nobody had any manners to let me through for like 2 seconds. I know it's partially my fault for being in the dealers room, but still, wasn't bad compared to some other costumes. This poor girl who had an amazing Queen cosplay, big dress, long veil was waiting around the masquerade area (as she was going to participate) and she just wanted to have a quick browse on the outside stalls where there were plenty of room, and even she was getting really annoyed by rude people.

Ooh, poor guy that must have been painful! I'm guessing those wings were heavy and people just had to glomp him >.> Argh, thank heavens my next cosplays will b easy to walk in, no hiking up dresses to be able to walk, no making sure that I won't hit anybody!

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-17 13:25:00 +0000 UTC]

Oh man, dresses and trains can be a pain too. I was Blind Mag at Otakon one year and damn if that train didn't get caught in the escalator and come off. I hope what you're going to your next con in has a skirt that doesn't drag the floor and no train >.<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-17 19:33:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh god trains, that's why when I came to making the dress (used a bridal pattern), that I tucked in the train a bit and I'm glad a I did, I would have had to hike even more of my dress up! Even though the dress fit me fine, too much hiking from the bottom resulted in the top sliding down. Oh god, I nearly flashed people with my bra in the food court... I was holding so much food, had to slowly shuffle to my seat as I couldn't hold my dress
Yeah, my next cosplays consist of sort of short skirts and comfy shoes, so I'm happy

Yeah, strapless tops can cause bad wardrobe malfunctions >.<

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-17 20:50:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah my next two cosplays will be strapless, I'll make it tighter this time!

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-18 03:13:08 +0000 UTC]

What I recommend is either building on a bra or making a built in bra. It's how my Jaina cosplay top defies gravity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-18 07:45:39 +0000 UTC]

Hm, thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to look into that!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-18 19:42:48 +0000 UTC]

The nice thing is, it can be a cheap bra too, but just make sure it's fitted or has a gel lining around the edges to hold it up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-18 20:09:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah my strapless one was gel lined but it got pulled down with the dress and it was hard to pull up again >_> It was weighed down by the wings so I think my next cosplays will help keep it up as they're not heavy and don't require wearing anything like wings, etc...

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-18 22:08:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh there was no flashing involved, but I need my fiance to help me pull it up, and we couldn't go in the bathroom so we stood outside them xD Thankfully no one came past, it would have been an awkward moment.
So any cosplays planned?

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-18 23:42:30 +0000 UTC]

Well, this year's Otakon, I'm going as Jaina Proudmoore from Warcraft for day one, Odette from Swan Princess for day two and Harley Quinn from Arkham Asylum for day three.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-19 09:59:02 +0000 UTC]

Ooh, are they fairly difficult cosplays? Good luck with them!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-19 12:34:39 +0000 UTC]

Yup, the Jaina cosplay is finished except I need to style the wig and finish my staff. Harley I only just started on but the vest is half-way complete (I had to custom order a corset from a local shop because I fail at steel boning since I'm still learning) and the Odette costume, well, I'll be pleased if it doesn't completely fail, but fortunately I've made gowns before.

Well, working at education and occupation is important, without it there'd be no money for fun things.

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-19 14:23:02 +0000 UTC]

True, true, I did some of it, I'll do some more tomorrow as I have a really bad headache. I know what I'm doing so it won't take very long

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-19 15:06:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, unfortunately I also have school signups and stuff and of course the school I'm signing up for wasn't there when I had an appointment last night so now I'm gonna have to be late for work so I won't have money for fabric I need today, but as I said, school's important.

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-19 15:30:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah education always comes before cosplay, that's why I'm doing all my work on the weekend so I've got half term to work on Mew Berry

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-19 16:12:18 +0000 UTC]

Fortunately, the education I'm currently doing is beauty school so it will actually help me do a better cosplay as I'll have a whole host of new skills, like styling wigs, applying proper make-up and all that.

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-19 16:20:45 +0000 UTC]

Lucky you! I should wear fake eyelashed for my cosplays and apply some light eyes makeup to make them look better Maybe then I won't look so old in photos xD

Lady-Proudwhore In reply to x-steffi-x [2011-02-19 16:22:53 +0000 UTC]

The best thing to do is come up with character pallets, but I don't think you look old.

x-steffi-x In reply to Lady-Proudwhore [2011-02-19 17:51:44 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I use this awesome foundation, but I really should make my make=up stand out, in a noticeable way but not to OTT. I know how to apply it, it's just applying it xD
Thanks, but bad lighting makes my skin look saggy xD

Gorgeous photo, Steffi! I've seen other people get professional photos at the Expo before and I'd like to get one myself, but I have no idea where people go to get them done XD

x-steffi-x In reply to ChibiSteampunk [2010-11-20 11:26:46 +0000 UTC]

Oh, there was a "Manga Entertainment" area where they did this photoshoot, is was fun ^^ They did another one somewhere else but I missed it D: I still can't find the other professional photos...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChibiSteampunk In reply to x-steffi-x [2010-11-27 17:17:03 +0000 UTC]

Oooh, I'll have to look out for photoshoot areas in May then XD

I might only be going one day in May too, it depends how badly I'm swamped by school! But I look forward to seeing your Mew Berry, and your Princess Serenity if we both go both days! I'll be cosplaying Super Sailor Chibi Moon on the Saturday & hopefully a casual Chibi-Usa outfit from Artbook II on Sunday ^-^

P.S. Sorry to hear about the art theft I hope it gets sorted out quickly.
