Why don’t we ever learn from our mistakes?Haven’t we learnt anything from our history?
We happily look back onto past struggles; struggles which were once ignored, sneered at and classed as terrorism. . . Until they won. Then suddenly everyone realised they were right all along.
If we look at the patterns we have in these struggles it’s always the same; one group of people presuming (wrongly) they are better and therefore can exploit another group by pretending they are stupid or can’t feel emotion. Slavery, the holocaust, the treatment of women. The exact excuses used today are to justify modern day exploitation are the exact ones used not so long ago. Then the people fighting to stop the abuse are imprisoned and called ‘terrorists’ for doing so. And amongst it all, the faithful police are there protecting the abusers and throwing good people in jail. Sound familiar?
How have we not moved on from this? We may be living in a different time, but the oppression and struggles are all the same. I am astounded by the stupidity of humanity sometimes. Why do we still have sweatshops? Why do we make poor people pick our tea leaves and pay them a pittence? Why do we not distribute the excess food from our obese nations? Why are we still locking animals in cages, experimenting on them, eating their bodies and skinning them alive? Why do drug companies get away with murder?
Anyway this is what came to mind when I head about Matt's 'Time' Comptetition , it’s quite rubbish really but I enjoyed making it

Wow, I really like this, it's done well and its message is so important. I like the fact you have Nestle’s logo in your artwork, I presume it's because they are responsible for the death of countless babies and children in third world countries, particularly Africa? It’s definitely true what you said about history but the trouble is most people don't even learn history, let alone learn from it. Take my high school ancient history class for example, I’m the only one from my grade in it.

Yeah it seems every time we take one step forward we end up taking two steps back.
Like "we've just invented geneticly engineered crops that can help fight starvation in 3rd world countries" and then
"but now it's copyrighted so only giant corporations can sell it, fuck the poor, ha ha ha!".
Or "let's liberate a country that doesn't want us to" and then "but fuck palistine, they don't have oil, ha ha ha!".
I think no matter what we'll always have assholes at the top, it's always been that way from cradle of "civilization".
It's kinda sad really, because if it were up to the masses none of these crisis' would exist, we have the know how,
we have the technology, nothing is stoping us from doing so but a handful of greedy fuckers that want more than they deserve.
Are we not living in the 21st century?
If we spent the same amount of money on helping others as we do on war we could have eliminated poverty all together a century ago. How hard could it possibly be to agree not to kill each other?
Fuck a war on terror, how about a war on poverty?

Yeah its SICK - and it's being allowed again back at Dover (UK) - the woman in the picture was run over during a live export demonstration and is now dead, along with the countless tortured animals!!
