Description I finally finished this, my first time shading scales . I think the other drawing I drew for CNY (WIP here -->[link] ) shall stay as a sketch tho, since school is starting soon and I have not touched my stacks of homework

its a collab I did with my son before CNY. ~PhantomScythe666 did the lineart and base shading, I did the shading and the flame thing.

How did you do the scales? I've tried several times and never got them to look right

I gently did slanted cross hatching on the body as a guide to shade the scales. You can actually still see some of the cross hatching on the upper part of the dragon's body(near his head) cause it was my first try so I accidentally made it a little too dark the scales were patchy as wellOrz. Then I drew smaller scales within the gaps, shading them along the way. I did soft layers of shading over some of the parts depending on how much darker I wanted to to look.

Its mostly in the shading,judgement and being random but systematic at the same time... or at least that's what I think x'D I hope you get what I'm trying to say, I'm not good at explaining stuff
