Description
He chose to walk alongside the wall, at times hopping up and walking across it when the trees and brush became too dense. Something about this journey had set him on edge, but he couldn’t yet fathom why. Perhaps it was because the way was too crowded, and negotiating all of the wild bushes and branches was tedious and time consuming, even for one of his size. Perhaps it was because he knew that ghosting across would have been significantly easier, but wouldn’t feel right - as if he was somehow cheapening the experience, or skipping a lesson the forest wanted him to learn. Or, perhaps it was another reason entirely, and one quite simple too. Ever since he had come into being, everything had felt… off. And the more of his powers he used, the more and more unnatural his existence felt.
At last he came upon the end of the wall, only to find fog as hazy has his memories and the sight of graves that settled uncomfortably in his chest. The dead were kept here. Forgotten, abandoned, lost to time. Something sharp lanced through him, some phantom pain of the past. He felt… connected to this place. He could relate to the fate that had befallen these poor souls long since laid to rest. Would that he had found respite with them, too.
He set about tending to this small graveyard before he even realized he had made the decision. It seemed only right, keeping the departed company when it was clear this derelict place had seen no visitors in so long.
Whether it was a silly or pointless gesture or not, the simple act still held meaning for him.

Chapter 4 was submitted out of order but within the grace period, but this one was way botched. xD But I wanted to finish it for completion's sake. I really like the story I ended up telling for my new bab.
