So while working on this I thought, what if a crazed necromancer wanted to guard a dungeon with something a bit more exotic but a true beholder would not really listen and he is no summoner but hey he as all this monster flesh lying around.... so he stitches together the poor thing from bits of lizardfolk, hyena men, werebears, etc. And then uses enchantments or what have you to actually have the eyes shoot stuff. And then one day in you come, and encounter this abomination, its not a good day.
