Hey man you hooked my little bro's pic up! I was getting ready to hook it up until we started getting ready for this up comming comic convention. Got a question! did you ink this before you colored it, and if so did you do it on the computer!

Well, all of the works was done in photoshop ( I don't know if using the pen tool be considered inking ). But yeah, I first did the "inking" part, then jump straight to the layouts and colors. I see layout and coloring go hand in hand since, well, the colors ARE part of the general design. And with that in mind, the answer for the final question would be a big, "Yes", I did all of it on the computer.

Ok I see" but how do you get smooth lines using the pen tool. I tried to use it to out-line a pencil sketch and it came out real bad, not smooth like yours. I wont even attempt to try and put text in my pics thats a whole nother element to learn. How long did it take you to do this.

try it!
Okay...this is the part where I might get technical. See, unlike using the brush, or the pencil tool, the pen tool is more of creating these so-called vector shapes. Vector shapes are basically unrasterized spaces that are filled according to how you want such created object to behave.
Hmmm...i'm getting the feeling i'm being too vague here. So instead of me trying too hard to make someone become confused, let me just give you some great resources.
how to use the pen tool:

Why include a vector tutorial? I don't know. Just think you might be interested. As for doing Skribblboy's artwork like it was inked, it as more of my own idea, and the idea is simple; imagine you're not just making shapes, you're not just tracing...instead, you're trying to, "see the strokes", how it would looked like in your handdrafted inkworks.

ah, I forgot. On the "how long" part, i'm a pretty slow guy, so yeah, this took me two and a half days.
