Description Ah, a much older piece that I happily stumbled upon not long ago. This was done around the same time as my golem piece, and is a drawing of the infamous Iron Knuckle from Zelda 2. I wanted evoke the sense of mystery and intimidation that the Iron Knuckle brought to each dungeon, and aside from the age of my drawing technique here, I think I did an all right job. It's certainly a concept I'd like to return to, and the mood I set here is something I can appreciate enough to set it as a deviation.

wicked art, just wicked.

these guys were the baddest of asses until late in the game. the blue ones were always really hard for me.

you definitely captured the mood. when you're running down a low hallway with low health these guys are your biggest fear.

in OoT and MM, they were kind of replaced by stalfos and became their own enemy.

in WW and TP stalfos are a joke again, dark nuts are the new dedicated fighting enemies and iron knuckles are nowhere to be found.

zelda 2 had to be the hardest zelda out there. i wouldnt doubt the people hating it are those who are picking it up for the first time and cant find parapa palace.

Yeah, the hate on Zelda 2 is totally odd to me, especially from people who claim the Zelda series is static. You'd think anyone would be on board for a Zelda game that actually considers one of Link's past victories over Ganon as a significant plot point.

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Ganon's ever been that close to dead since!

Those guys were awesome, and pretty challenging to fight. (Especially the blue ones.) I love Zelda II, even though most Zelda fans don't. (Funny, considering everyone loved the game back when it was first released in 1988.)
Amazing piece, I love the comic book-like style of shading here, and dark colors.

I remember seeing early screenshots of Zelda 64 (Ocarina of Time) in Nintendo Power magazine back in 1997 that featured Iron Knuckle knights that looked just like the ones from Zelda II. (You could even see green from Link reflecting on their armor, a nice effect at the time.) Though they eventually remade them into the freaky ax-welding Iron Knuckles in the final game.

Izzat so? Yeah, I was a little disappointed when I saw that the Iron Knuckles in Ocarina weren't going to give you the epic sword fights that they did in the old game. I guess it did help differentiate them from the Stalfos (who really shouldn't suck as badly in 3D as they did in Zelda 2 anyway), and in the long run it does give them a different flare from the Darknuts.

I didn't know folk were looking down at Zelda 2 these days. People will just jump on any bandwagon now won't they? Like those people who call Mario RPG an "obscure" game, and pick Bowser Jr. over the original seven Koopalings. Good grief.

I garrenty if you even mention Zelda 2 on any video game message board, a majority of people will be all, "omgz!!! that game iz the worzt Zelda of all! It sukz!!!1 I hat it!!!!!!1"
It's funny, because the game was well received, and well liked when it first came out, but even some older gamers like to take shots at it.

But yeah, some do it just to be on a bandwagon, I see some people who're like "I've never played it, but I hear it's bad, so it must be!"
Sad, eh?

Super Mario RPG isn't that obscure, especially sence it's availible for download on the Wii's Virtual Console system now.
(In fact thanks to VC it's now availible in Europe, and Australia regions for the very first time.)
