Sometime last week, I was browsing through the Avatar portion of my gallery and became bothered by the fact that I didn't have any Kataang pieces.Plenty of Zutara and Taang, of course, some Sukka and a dash of Maiko, so think of this as balancing things out.
And I hope that at least a few Kataangers will enjoy this. Thanks for viewing!

This is a great picture and all, but please dont tag it as taang. I am sick of seeing other ships when I type in taang. and I especially hate Kataang becuase I personally think Katara is shallow. But all in all it is a really good pic

Well, the surprise I felt at seeing Kataang under your name and in your style drove me to push on with my own Toph-related comic thing...I think I've finished drawing, with the exception of a horrible-looking hand, and I'll hopefully be motivated to color by whatever reply you put to this.
Anyway, YOUR piece....it's emotionally intriguing...irony being that I'd been pushed to the edge by multiple pieces of fanart ("So help me, if I see one more picture of Katara trying to out-dramatic her Ember Island actress in Zuko's arms, I'm going to finish this picture..."), and now suddenly, here's a similar pose, but different person...the one I like. THIS MAKES IT HARD TO MAKE UP MY MIND ON HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS ONE.
On the one hand, it's older Kataang, which is always a favorite. On the other hand, though, Katara is doing what I'd mentally gotten QUITE annoyed at....KATARA'S THE HUGGER, NOT THE HUGGEE....
Maybe this is, as you said, "balancing things out." It might also be "Lambton Worm Syndrome", where "the first creature you see, you will have to kill or be cursed...oh, look, it's your dad!" Cupid's arrow, Arthurian legend, other myths....
The piece is gorgeous, and it makes me happy overall, but there's some sort of universal "ha-ha" woven into this. I have a Katara picture to touch up now...so many things on my plate. O_o
LONG COMMENTS THAT HAVE ONLY A FEW SENTENCES RELATED TO DESCRIBING THE PICTURE = EPIC FAIL. But I didn't really think that a three-word quip would suffice for this one....

Sorry....It IS terribly dramatic.
Yeah, the reason I drew the situation this way - instead of somewhat vice-versa, which is what the inital sketches were - is that a majority of Kataang art does have Katara as the hugee/provider of comfort and reassurance: but of course, relationships are supposed to work both ways.
And I think Aang would be more than capable of filling the role that Katara so often plays for him.
Looking forward to that Toph comic!
