Just amazing lineart! And the coloring is near perfection! What is the exact name of the computer program you used to make this? I know you said advanced illustration I, but is that the full name?

Oh, no, Advanced Illustration I is the class this was an assignment for. I did the lineart traditionally and scanned it in, then colored it using Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Yup! I applied textures with layer effects (such as overlay). There's a basic but straightforward tutorial on applying textures here: [link]
You can get texture images by scanning your own in or visiting sites like [link] (though it seems to be down at the moment) or [link]
Don't rely completely on textures, though. They can spice up a piece but you still need an underlying painting (which I do digitally in Photoshop as well, using some of the standard brushes and my Wacom tablet). However, between the the two you can achieve some really neat effects.
