Description

One never really knows when an egg is going to hatch. Will it do it while you're making dinner, relaxing on the couch, reading a book? There's so many convenient times, but so many... inconvenient ones, as well. Hence the near-necessity to carry around the egg constantly. This egg decided to hatch in the middle of the not, glowing warmly with the natural fire magic all wynglings--even finns--were able to produce.

Xan carefully takes the egg to the make-shift hatching location that would become the child's crib. He sets it down on the ground, the water a bit chilly from the crisp night. It was quiet, Jasne still asleep. He wants his hands free, and doesn't want water and oil to mix, so chooses to generate some light of his own. It was... odd, weirdly distant, that he couldn't place the child down on something soft. That he couldn't get ready to clean it up and dry it off, that he couldn't hold it--couldn't really even touch it, right now. He just stared at the tank, a quiet nagging that perhaps the child would drown right before him. But--no. It shouldn't. With further research, it was most definitely a finn egg--a "pure" finn, despite the misnomer of its muddled standard lineage--and would have gills.

While the cracks appeared quickly, after putting the egg into the cool water, it takes some hour to rewarm enough to fully break open a piece of shell. First by the face (thank goodness), its little beak breaking the shell expertly. The wyngling doesn't seem like it's coughing at the water, so... that's a good sign. Little bubble arise from the airpockets in the egg releasing.
