lol I have a question for you! In the description you said you want to do animation for your profession, have you started going to school yet, or anything of that nature? =o

Xelioth In reply to OOFTA [2011-10-02 22:10:04 +0000 UTC]
I have not. I'm in school for ceramic sculpture and painting right now, and I'll be moving away towards an animation school either next year or the year after, depending on how things fall.
The only animation training I have, aside from experience, is that I've read The Animator's Survival Kit from cover to cover.

Was that helpful? I'm hoping to go to Savannah College of Art and Design in a few years. I'm actually trying to work on my portfolio now for them.

SCAD! I've got a booklet for them sitting right behind me, actually. it's one of my potentials!
and GOD YES! The Animator's Survival Kit is actually required reading for several animation schools, from what I've seen. It's recommended reading for ALL of them. I've seen it listed on several lists of 'things to do to prepare for animation college'.
heck, just look at my own gallery. Before SUPAH POWAH: Invincibility, I hadn't read the book, then starting with Invincibility I had. You can pretty easily tell the jump in animation quality.

I'll have to check that book out! I'm pretty much teaching myself animation without any guidance. I just worked on an animation this last week (I sketch everything layer by layer, and then transfer it over to an animation program)... there is SO MUCH WRONG WITH IT. x_x
Pfft, all of your animations are amazing. ALL OF THEM!

Hehe, yeah, I'm using Paint Tool SAI and JASC Animation Shop. Code for FireWorks MX? (lol, I'm so oblivious to other programs.)

Fireworks MX was back before Macromedia was bought by Adobe. Fireworks CS is the Adobe suite program most suited to sprite works, such as what I do here. it doesn't have the fancy tweening that Flash does, but it gives you more freedom in drawing than Flash does, so I like it about 100x more than Flash and its Nazi pen drawing.
