Thanks! Sure saves time sculpting those shapes.

I've started playing with that style of clay and I just wanted to ask how you get it to look so mechanical and lean looking?

Trust me, on closer inspection, it is not as smooth as you think. I find sculpting mechanical things very tricky, in particular, symmetry. I did a waste mould on this guy, cast it in resin, then had to do a lot of modifying (filling and sanding) in order to get the smooth, manufactured look I was after. Sculpey firm or chavant hard grade may be better materials for these kinds of shapes. J.

Chavant???β¦you must be some kind of masochist!!!!
You should try the firm grey Super Sculpy for these sort of thingsβ¦you can get sharper lines easier and then bake the buggars and do the final polish with sand paper and files etc.
Having said that this is greatβ¦so WTF do I know!!!?β¦lol

Ha ha, what can I say Dave? I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. Managed to get it pretty smooth then I did a waste mould and cast it in resin. Hopefully it should be done by next week as I'm showing my wares at IMATS this year. Time to start networking again.

You bet they were, ha ha! Once the clay got warm it was tricky to get those clean lines. Freeze spray helped. J.

Have you tried monster clay? And if so, which is better in your opinion??

Haven't tried it yet. Heard good things about it though. I mostly use Chavant medium or sculpey. For masks i use wed clay. J.

its great stuff! my only problem is its a little soft when it comes to casting process..
was hoping chavant hard would be a little firmer, still gotta try it.

that's great!! i wish i can sculpt like that. I use super sculpy to make custom parts and that's about it.
