Wow okay, where to begin with this...
I've been working on this the past five days, probably with a total of 16-20 hours of painting and 24 hours of footage. (Seeing if I can make a speedpaint, but there is a good bit of idle time in there.) I really really enjoyed this but I also struggled a lot with it - mainly the legs. They were SO hard to position right and even now I'm feeling kind of ehh about them. I also spent far far longer than I should have on sketching. (~4-6 hours??) Which showed me I need to practice sketching under a time limit or something to improve. Despite those problems, I'm really happy with most of the picture. Especially with the background and most of the character designs.

As for the subject of this piece, it's based on memories I have with friends I've known my whole life (literally since I was a baby) who I've somewhat fallen out of touch with in recent years. This picture was to reminisce on a particular set of memories which was going to visit some of them in their mobile homes near the west coast and staying there for a few days. The mobile home site was within ~5-10 minutes walking distance of a beach, and to get there you had to walk through the grassy plains which became more sandy as you approached it. Coming back from the beach on a sand-covered path is where this picture is set, and It's something I've really missed.
The characters have some of the characteristics of my friends to add to that but it felt a little weird drawing them as anthros, since I doubt they'd really even know of them and I haven't spoken to most of them in a while.
