The venerable M1897 Winchester trench gun.
Saw service thru many wars. Actually was declared by the Germans in WW 1 as a violation of Geneva Rules on weapons of war.
Still my go to weapon in my line of work.
Slugs only as the 000 buckshot spreads too much over 15 yards.
The 1 3/4 ounce slugs will take you out at 200 yards easily.
Providing you trained enough using bead sights.
My current carry is the 870 Remington Police 12ga cylinder choke specific for slugs.
Been using one for 40 years. This is my third one.
My first was the M1897…. No bayonet ( but I did have one for it.😁

Also we in police were not allowed to use a bayonet on it. I had my own for my 1897…..used a hard to find WW2 M1 type. Look awesome!!

No. The current M590A1 has a bayonet attachment. It fits the newer M9 bayonet knife.
I learned to always have a good edged weapon as a back up…..ammo can run out. Edged steel is always ready as a resort.
