Everything here sets the scene for terror, but there is no clichés here; its not deliberate dark, its not misty, nor is it in a place only a complete idiot would walk into.
This is a regular place, in broad daylight the kind of place I would walk along, although must admit, that looks like a bit of deep sand there e.deviantart.net/emoticons/e/e… " width="15" height="15" alt="
Now we come onto the beast; at first I was disappointed with this; the creature had no texture, no detail on its nature, or anything that would jump out at you.
Then I realised that I was looking at this wrong. The creature is original, and the fact it lacks texture is its greatest selling point - its alien! Therefore it would be strange. Its like a mollusc but made from either Plasticine or clay; that to me is a clincher! The slight 'V's in the skin emphasse it.
Also its not a xenomorph rip off!! Thank the stars,

What is a real thought is this - is the creature on the attack? Or is the character threatening it?

Many thanks for the critique! And for your thought at the end: maybe no one is threatening anyone, maybe it is a situation at the edge - both are encountered with an unknown species, and both don't know what might come next or what to expect from the other one as he/it appears to be so strange. So the question is: will any of the both make a wrong move? Will both just split, going out of the way of each other? Will this end peaceful or horrible?
