Inspired by a really strange, yet intriguing illustration by Alphonse Mucha for "Le Gaulois" (Christmas 1896). I suggest you to take a look.In my artwork, the sad girl is Clio, Muse of history. Draw your conclusions.

Ahhh... Beautiful rendering and inspiration.
Was a time such drawings were common place to evoke themes and ideas without overwrought lengthy texts. Forced introspection and slow deliberate thinking.
