Description I have been playing Journey for PS3 pretty much nonstop, so I decided to do this fan art. This is very different than what I usually do, but I wanted to go with the style of the game... so I did this using Illustrator CS4. Being a graphic designer, I use illustrator every single day, but I never thought of doing art for deviantart using it before. I think I'll try to do this more often.

For more of my art, shirts, photographs and other fun stuff, please visit: www.kappacino.com

And lastly, if anyone would like to support my artistic endeavors, I've set up subscriptions here on Deviantart and I've also started a Ko-Fi, so please visit: ko-fi.com/xkappax

Thank you to anyone and everyone who supports my art and to anyone who has purchased a shirt, sticker or anything else. It means the world to me.

Anyway...

This pretty much sums up the multiplayer experience for me.

illustrator! i <3 adobe illustrator~
some cool bit of fanart, kappa. the snow-globe circular composition is a cool approach~ if you haven't already shared this on twitter, you should! (too bad twitter doesn't show devArt picts. i'd tried a few weeks ago)
you might recognize me better as omegaCarotene, btw~

just finished my 2nd play-thru of Journey last night. while the end of the Mountain chapter was not shocking the second time around, it was still an emotional moment...
an artsy-fartsy cool game, to be sure~

so, how long did this take you?
i gotta draw me a Journey-vector-something some time~
lolz, companion cubes! >[8)

I shared it on twitter a few weeks ago when I did it.

I must have played through Journey ten times. I sometimes just sit down and play through it when I'm bored. The first time I played, I was alone, the second I had someone with me. It was WAY more emotional my second time through.

That image took me about an hour or an hour and a half to draw. I know that seems really fast... I've been working with Illustrator for a long time and use it every day for my job, so that's why I work so fast!

oh man, i'd only read this just now. Β devArt really isn't one of my common haunting-grounds.
i think's it's been well over 8months now...about time for a third play-through of Journey, perhaps?Β

Β
yeah, the game's climax had elicited some water-eyed moments for more than once~! Β >[8)

Oh, that's cool. I don't get here as often as I'd like to either, so no worries!

And yeah, definitely time for another Journey playthrough. I haven't done it for quite some time, either.

A unique look!

This has got to be the best, most ingenious design for a snowglobe ever. I could kiss you!

I LOVE Journey!!! Such a Great game! I like this piece too... especially all the Portal cubes they're chirping to each other!

yeah, I know, they do look like companion cubes, don't they? I couldn't remember what any of the symbols looked like when I was drawing this and I could NOT find a reference online.

And thank you. I am totally in love with Journey as well. I've played through it like 5 times and probably will play it again today.

I never heard of this game. It looks pretty neat, but is it worth the (I assume) $60 price tag?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xkappax In reply to SpikelyWhiplash [2012-03-29 02:54:48 +0000 UTC]

Actually, it's only 15 dollars. It is definitely worth picking up for the graphics and experience alone... The game is rather short, but has replay value...

Such an amazingly beautiful and fantastic game. It's the first game to have left me breathless after finishing it, and I really loved traveling through the game with my companion. I really should play it again.

On that note, this is amazing work, considering it was made in Illustrator. I've used illustrator, and it's somewhat frustrating. But I really love this! Vector art is actually really cool when you know what you're doing.

Also, you're a Graphic Designer? Do you mind if I message you some questions? I'm planning on becoming a graphic designer myself.
