Khamsin Stables is expanding its sighthound kennels, and we've decided to import some extra puppies if other people want them.

**You can try for as many dogs as you want.
**Khamsin stables will be holding a show that includes the use of dogs (and hawks, falcons, and other trained hunting birds). You can 'borrow' a dog or several dogs for this event, and if you want to adopt that dog after the event is over, your entry picture will also count as an art bid. More info on the show here: [link]

Sighthounds (or 'gazehounds') are a type of dog, much like there are draft horses, warmbloods, and other types of horses. Wikipedia defines them as "hounds that primarily hunt by speed and sight, instead of by scent and endurance as scent hounds do."

Sighthounds typically have long legs, deep chests, narrow waists, and display a high prey drive along with keen eyesight. One well-known example of a sighthound breed is the greyhound. However, the breeds that I am showcasing are less well-known.

(Dogs 1-4) The Ibizan# is an old hound breed from the island of Eivissa (near Spain). They were bred to hunt smallish game, mostly rabbits. They are available in a smooth-haired or wire-haired variety, but are always red and white with pink noses, footpads, eye rims, and ears. They are very energetic and often act "goofy", but they are also sensitive. They can jump quite high from a standstill, and even higher from a running start, so make sure you have tall fences!

(Dogs 5-8) The Akhilar is a breed that I created. They resemble a sleeker, less heavily-furred Borzoi with hints of Saluki and Azawakh blood, with a distinctive colouration that most Akhilar inherit. There is more information about them here.

(Dogs 9-11) The Silken Windhound# is a smaller, newer hound from America, bred originally from a mixture of Borzoi and Whippet blood, and they look much like a half-sized Borzoi. Their silky coat comes in a large range of colours, and their friendly and eager nature makes them easy to train and good with children.

(Dogs 12-15) The Borzoi is a tall breed from Russia originally bred to hunt wolves. They don't mind snow and often seem to enjoy it, but their coats will thin out in warmer weather, so they are suitable for a variety of climates. Temperament-wise, they are often reserved and 'shy', but loyal and affectionate to their masters. They are quiet and do not make good watch dogs.
