Psst, small explanation to the above. Since YYH was out in 1990, and KHR is more recent, I figured they'd be about twenty years apart, timeline-wise. Hiei and Kurama would age very slowly: twenty years is nothing to them. Yuusuke would have also slowed down his aging, after waking his demon blood. Kuwabara, though, would have aged normally, and of course he would have had to carry on with life.

The other three though? Freelance Spirit Detectives.

That's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it. ; 3;

His feet touched the ground in a soft landing, but Tsuna kept his arms tense, standing between Yamamoto’s heaving form and the stranger not ten feet away from him.

“Good show, kid.” The metal bat he was carrying moved up and down on his shoulder, giving himself light pats. It was his most obvious weapon, but Tsuna did not let himself ignore the hand stashed away in his pocket. “I’d say he was B class. It’s not all that easy to take one of those down, but I’m sure you all found that on your own.”

Yamamoto flinched behind him, but the stranger only laughed at the glare surely sent his way.

“Who are you,” Tsuna demanded, fists opening and closing in a threatening way.

“The name is Urameshi Yuusuke,” the male, who couldn’t have been that much older than them, said with a cocky grin. His bat swung out, pointed at Tsuna, but there was no hostility in the motion. “And you are Sawada Tsunayoshi, Tenth Boss of the Vongola Family, right?”

Flaring orange eyes narrowed dangerously, but though his fists clenched, he knew that if things got ugly, his priority was getting Yamamoto out of the line of fire. He didn’t know what this man was capable of, and if anything like his last opponent, he wouldn’t play fair.

“So you know about the Mafia.”

The familiar presence of Reborn was by his side now, and out of the corner of his eye, Tsuna could see a sleek black gun held casually in a small hand.

“Well, I’m hardly an expert,” Urameshi said, scratching his chin lazily, revealing he hadn’t been holding any other weapon with that hand. “We’ve only had some encounters with the yakuza in Japan, but we usually stay out of their way unless our own cross over.”

There was a soft click, and the barrel of Reborn’s gun was aimed right at the male’s head. The stranger remained calm, even going so far as to give the weapon an amused look.

“You mean your men,” Reborn stated.

Urameshi laughed. “No, man. I mean demons.”
