I LOVE HOW I CAN'T THINK OF ANY DECENT TITLES ANYMORE!!!!!!!Yeah, I changed it. I actually had the orginal drawing finished, and simply put.. I didn't like it. I ended up redoing this, so I guess you can say I've spent a lot of time drawing this pooch. I'm not sure if his eyes have darkened or changed as he's gotten older, so I went from baby pictures of him..
ANYWAY!! This is the lovely Kaiser, for ~Kauri . She's a sweetheart with an incredible talent for art and a skilled eye in photography, and not only that, but she's passionate about it. She always seems so sincere and true about what she draws or takes photos of. She treats them like individual treasures, rather than simply dumping them on dA for anyone to see. I was actually surprised she agreed to a trade {most people I ask say no}, so that just goes to show how sweet she is.
Drawing someone's animal companion is always a task, since you strive to make the drawing look like that animal, rather than just any animal. I refrenced off a photo for the pose, but I tried to stick to her photos of Kaiser to I could capture {or try to} HIS expression, HIS spark, HIS emotion. I tried my hardest to get his face, at least, to look like himself, rather than some googled image of a German Shepherd. I wanted it to be as personal for Keri as possible, so I added little things like the emotion in his eyes/face {from this photo: [link] }, his collar, green {most pictures I've seen of him, he's in the green grass}, etc. Eh.. I tried. D:! I really really hope you like it.

I noticed this picture of a german shepard in somebody's favorites and simply HAD to comment. It's a ver lovely picture. The eyes really say something- which I think is good. The expression is priceless, and comparing it to the photo, it seems you did a very nice job in capturing the dog's, personality, I guess. The look in the photo and the drawing seem very much alike to me- and that's way cool. I also like the detail and shading you put into the fur.
The green background is a very good choice also- sets a good mood or theme.
I think this is great, I'm adding it to my favorites!

I could hug you right about how. Via the internet. I'm.. awestricken by how much effort you obviously put into this. You did a MINDBLOWING job of capturing emotions/facial expressions and whatnot.. In all honesty I am likely going to print this out and hang it somewhere because I am absolutely thrilled everytime I look at it. It means a lot that you put so much effort and time into it!
Sadly, yes his eyes are now a very vibrant gold but they were that blue for a very long time. He was pretty big when they changed so this works fine. It is all you had for reference. (:

Well, I can always change his eye colour if you'd like me to. I really would like to try something better someday, and w hile I won't exactly blame it on the programs I have, I only have openCanvas and MS Paint. My computer is too much of an old fart to support PSP or anything else, so I have to make due with what I have. I would of loved to put in a background but.. I lack teh skilz. Plus, what's more awesome than your pet floating around in some white void with greenish yellow bubbles floating behind him? HMMMMM?
Omg yes I'd love to collab. Seriously. And don't stress over your part, either. You're a fantastic person and artist, and I just wanted to show you that I really admire both you and your work. I'm not saying I don't like your photography-- ..trust me, I really do love it-- but I really do miss seeing your sketches and such, too. But take your time, and I mean it.
