Homura is not evil, but most likely the purest character in the anime.
She scarifies everything just for her friend, Madoka.
She tries to kill Kyubey (βCatβ) to save Madoka from creating a contract, in which she loses her soul & eventually scarifies herself.
But no matter how hard she tries Madokaβs fate is tied to death.
Though she still, creates various dimensions in hope to save Madoka.
In this anime there is no βGoodβ nor βEvilβ just as there is none in real life.
The characters choose different paths in different dimensions (though some fates are tied to death no matter what).
Just as in one dimension Kyubey seeks energy from the teenage girlβs emotions, and in another he seeks energy in demons (what Puella Magi are replaced for in the final dimension shown).
