Despite other pressures (like HK itself lol), Kiel still prefers to be simple, be it in on special occasions or daily activities, so given the choice of fancy a restaurant and the kiosk across the street, it'd be an easy decision. Kiel is also very secretive due to his upbringing, often only sharing on a need-to-know basis. Unless he's prodded, he won't really say anything. As such, the most basic information, like his affinity to reptiles and fear of dolls, can come as a shock even to those he's known for years.
He doesn't look it, but he thinks being on either end of friendly teasing is fun, and can often be heard sewing rude words into mundane sentences. However, this isn't a side often seen, he knows his parents thought that type of crude behavior was unseemly. So, he'd usually opt to behave more appropriately, if not just to train the habit. Fortunately, finding out when it's alright to loosen up is made easier by the fact that he is highly observant. He can easily determine the air of different situations. As a third party, he is empathic, and can easily understand people’s feelings and points of view, making him a great mediator if friends are on the brink of a fallout. Despite this, by nature Kiel is rather unconfident, so when it comes to what people think of him he is fast to get to the worst case scenario and slow to come to positive conclusions. He also often needs second opinions, is too embarrassed to talk about himself, and is often too painfully bashful to interact with people he admires. At times, his shyness can come across as him being cold, but it doesn't take too much to get past the facade.
In his daily life, he makes it a point to follow through on everything he says, making him a reliable person, who can keep a cool head in most heated situations. He also believes in conserving energy, and maximizing his time, this means that he tries to find the most efficient ways to accomplish tasks. As a result, he tends to be selective in deciding where to allocate that limited time and energy. This applies even in forming personal relationships, making it a long process for him to warm up when he isn't predisposed to someone. Despite this, once someone is his friend, he easily becomes protective and sentimental, going to great lengths to preserve their happiness, keeping everything they give him, giving small gifts in return, as well as being rather unforgiving when they are duly scorned.

[ reason for joining ] He needed extracurriculars that his parents approve of and allow him to pursue his interests.
[ what they can contribute ] Contacts, Networking, Photography, Logistics
When he was younger, his father’s work (unlock at level 15) had them based in Macau. Even then, he was already being groomed to take over the mantle. Kiel didn’t want to, and if he could help it, it would never get to that point. He knew what his parents were like though, and life was easier if he just obeyed. So he behaved, studied well, learned to finish his lessons quickly before playing, and kept quiet about business outside.
He lived in Macau, but home always felt like it was in was Hong Kong. That was where his mom’s side was from, and where he often stayed with his cousins, sometimes, for weeks at a time during the holidays. Their flat wasn’t as big, and their toys weren’t always new, but he never noticed because, there, he could be himself and didn’t have to worry about it. It was enough only visiting his cousins a few times a year, but, approaching secondary school, his parents suddenly decided it would be more advantageous if he studied in Hong Kong. He was happy, he thought he would be with his cousins, until he was informed that his father had already bought a newly renovated house in Repulse Bay.
No doubt, it was comfortable, but if it meant living with just a nanny and going to an unfamiliar international school nearby, he didn’t want it. He asked to stay at his cousins’ flat in Prince Edward, but his parents said the house was already bought. He asked to attend his cousins’ government school, Kowloon Foo Yeen Tsan Secondary School, but they said it wasn’t as good. Kiel usually took everything they threw at him, but this was a little bit ridiculous. He wasn’t having it, for the first time, he pushed back. He turned on the dramatics for weeks. It was uncharacteristic, so it was effective. At a loss towards their son’s unexpected reaction, his parents caved and allowed for a compromise; he could attend his cousins’ school as long as he kept his grades up, but they would get him a condo unit in Tsim Sha Tsui, and he’d be staying there. He tried to get a better deal, but there was always a counterargument. All excuses, Kiel knew why (unlock at level 15), but it didn’t matter; his cousins would be nearby, so he could just visit whenever he wanted, and he did.
In Year 1, hours came and went with his cousins. Two of them were still in a district primary school, one was in Year 2 and, the other, year 4. Habi was the oldest. Very relaxed, he often sported a guitar: A music guy. Once, Kiel asked to be taught a song, and he was so engaged that, for the first time, he ran late for his tennis lesson. He didn’t even feel bad, only annoyed, realizing that it wasted his time if he didn’t even enjoy it. A year later, having noticed his new interest, his aunt and uncle and gifted him his own guitar. After another year, he built up the nerve to put the tennis lesson fees away, so he could focus on music and only pretended to take tennis for his mom. Steadily, he was developing a passion. His cousins knew about his parents, and they knew about his troubles.
There were music clubs, but he couldn’t join them in case his parents found out. They only wasted time on art to schmooze and expected the same from him. In his 4th year, Kiel was resigned to join the Math club for the 3th year in a row when his cousin, Tala, told him about her friend in the school bulletin. She told Kiel that the club had a music section, and figured that the News and Sports Subunit would look appropriate enough. He wasn’t a sports guy, but news was okay. He conceded. That first year, he had the most fun he’d ever had, he did his dues for NS and collaborated with the other subunit whenever he could. By the year’s end, the double load of work was enough to elect him co-Vice President, head of the NS subunit.
