trenchcoats are amazing let's be real here
On the other hand, I don't think it was actually called a trenchcoat at this point in time - or at least, the jacket Dave is wearing isn't an example of one. Suits were styled differently back then, so the suit jacket would extend far beyond the waist. For some reason I don't quite understand, it was in to have a really long torso (hence the lowered waists on dresses and lengthened jackets).
