Description A girl of nineteen walked at a somewhat leisurely pace down the sidewalk, lavender eyes gazed up at the moon wistfully, as if wanting to join it up there with the stars. She shook her head sadly and sighed, the movement messing up her dark, plum streaked hair. Remembering that this was a mortal city, she looked at sidewalk as if she'd lose it without constantly watching it, an excuse to hide her face. At one hundred and eighty six years old, a little over a century, Culisi hadn't trusted anyone since Martin, not wanting to risk losing them. Just thinking of Martin brought back that night...

The moon was at its crescent phase on that night of November 13, 1839, when she was still nineteen year old Cloe Johnson, planning to change many things for the one she loved, Martin Lami, things like her entire name and way of life. She would become a vampire named Culisi Lami who would lose things like sunlight and family, but being with Martin more than made up for it in her opinion. Culisi was turned, then they just sort of looked at each other...you know, the kind of talking that you don't need words for...only it didn't last long. Thinking back on it, it had to have been her sister, Mera, who could have told her parents that she'd left the room during the night. However it happened, Culisi and Martin were startled by a series of loud poundings. "M-Martin?" Culisi asked, frightened to the point of stuttering. At least she wasn't confused, there was no doubt as to who it was, the telltale smell of smoke gave it away, and a few sounds hinted to other weapons.

"Culisi, please keep your last name as Lami, no matter what happens, just as something to remember me by, and know that I'll be okay waiting until we're able to meet again, so don't make life short for me," Martin said, gently pushing her towards the other door.

"Come with. I don't see why you can't come with me, Martin," Culisi said, her way of stubbornly refusing to leave.

"They're mostly looking to get rid of me, my dear. If they succeed, yes, they will look for Cloe, but I doubt that they will find her. Be sure to look in a mirror for me before the night is through. Now, go, Culisi."

"I don't like it when you're right." She hugged him quickly, whispering, "The other half later," a promise that she'd see him again, then ran out the door, not wanting to look back, the sounds she heard weren't very encouraging. Reaching the forest and leaping to sit on a low tree branch, Culisi sobbed, probably looking as if she could live in the forest, barefoot in a plain grey dress. After what might have been a few minutes, she remembered one of Martin's requests and walked to the lake to see her fading reflection for the last time.

Culisi was forcefully jolted out of her memory via running into someone else. Shrugging slightly, she continued, intent on remembering Martin from that moment. "Are you listening?"

"No, not really," she answered, deciding to be honest. She studied the mortal, guessing that he was somewhere around the age that she looked, very dark with brown hair, and a whole outfit appearing to be made up of denim and the color dark blue. Another thing she noticed was his face, and how his expression changed when he noticed how she looked, probably the usual surprise one got when seeing her eyes. Culisi began walking away, quicker than before, the sandals she wore making no more noise than before.

"You're not going to apologize? There isn't any way that this was my fault!" He grabbed the sleeve of her short, long-sleeved purple dress.

"Fine, if I may know your name?" Culisi asked, keeping her polite tone despite the fact that she was becoming impatient.

"Teren Fene," he answered.

"Okay then. I apologize for running into you, Teren Fene. May I no longer be in your way. Am I allowed to leave now?" She gestured with her free hand to the sleeve he was still holding. People were starting to stare and she wanted to go the park where she could be alone.

Also noticing the stares, Teren blushed, not that it was visible, and let go of her sleeve. "Can I know your name?"

"I don't know, can you?"

"May I know your name? In case I happen to see you again?"

"You won't be seeing me again if I can help it, but you may know it anyway. It's...Culisi," she replied, already walking away, faster than before, to the park. It'd be best to be nostalgic where there was less of a chance of being bothered.

wow, this story is really captivating, right from the very first sentence! i really like your style of writting- very satisfying and soothing, and you have already created a very interesting main character. Good balance of dialogue and description as well. It was a very moving story. Obvious parts about not being able to see your reflection when your a vampire- i never thought of it as sadening before- but reading that scene made me realize how awful that would be, let alone all the other sacrifices you would have to make.
