Bodoland is an area located in the north bank of the river Brahmaputra in the state of Assam, by the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh,
inhabited predominantly by Bodo language speaking ethnic group.

Currently the Bodoland includes the Bodoland Territorial Council headquartered in Kokrajhar,
which was created in 2003 after the Bodo Liberation Tigers laid down their arms and joined the political process.

They rule the council now as the Bodoland People's Front.
Opposed to the territorial district idea are guerrillas of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland who continue an armed struggle for independence of Bodoland.
The Bodos represent one of the largest of the 18 ethnic subgroups within the Kachari group.

They speak the language belonging to the Tibeto Burman family.
They practive Hinduism and christianity.
