Back in 1941 with the conflict in Europe escalating, president Roosevelt knew it was only a matter of time before the country would have to get off the sidelines. So he authorized project Rebirth, a program dedicated to creating perfect soldiers. Then December 7th 1942, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor Hawaii forcing the country's hand. Now at war Project Rebirth intended to create an army of super soldiers. However, the program only had one success before the only man who knew the formula was killed by a Nazi spy. That success was Steve Rogers, a man who proved to be the perfect soldier time and time again in the field as Captain America. Unfortunately Captain America was lost during a mission to prevent a Nazi version of project Rebirth. In the following decades Earth was conquered by alien invaders known as the Kree. But unbeknownst to the people of Earth, Captain America was not killed in his final mission. In fact he was captured by the Kree and experimented on for years. Experiments that actually enhanced his already remarkable physiology. When resistance fighters raided a Kree internment camp, they found Captain America, and a leader for their fledgling Avengers.

*NOTES*

Initially my plan was to kill off Captain America. But the more I thought about it, the less I liked that idea. After all Cap is my favorite Avenger. It was actually Gold-Reaper who set me over the edge. I decided to use the real world Marvel timeline as a guide, and Cap actually did go missing for years. As for the suit, his WWII suit is meant to look more like a uniform a soldier would have worn at the time. But it would take a beating for the years he spent in captivity leading to a new suit, which is made from a "borrowed" Nova Corps uniform. I made his vibranium shield something he took while escaping captivity because it's not a metal native to Earth, so it would have come with the Kree.
