While they will break the code, they are a strict and generally hypocritical and malign cat, as, if they're approached with a situation where a cat breaks a law, they will scold them harshly and turn their nose up at them. ↳ pre birth, raspberry and blackberry, in love, had a litter of kits. one was born, and they named her cranberry.
↳ kithood, growing dissatisfied with life in her parents' rogue group, cranberry escaped and was found by groveclan. in groveclan, they met the clanborn kits, alongside a kit named stonekit, and immediately clashed. they briefly met with briarkit, discovering that this kit also went by they/them, before they harassed dahliapaw about how to get a warrior name. they find ambition and motivation in her explanation of the clan.
↳ apprenticeship, at first, cranberrypaw's apprentice is highly uneventful - they are given pineclaw as a mentor, and train primarily in hunting. they are trained to be faithful in starclan, and they do so even today with a firm, unwavering heart. they also spend more time with briarpaw, finding solace in the fellow apprentice's company. when the clan is attacked by coyotes, they're sent out on a patrol with skinkheart, briarpaw, bramblingpaw, maplepaw, and honeypaw to investigate and almost get eaten by a coyote. they find themselves with a mutual admiration for skinkheart and a closer connection with briarpaw. briarpaw is their only friend. when coyotes attack the camp, they fight side by side with briarpaw, earning a scar across their nose. pinejaw passes away from the coyote attack, though the warriors drive them out of camp.
↳ warriorhood, shortly following the coyote attack, cranberrypaw is given the name cranberryjaw for their stubbornness. they spend the majority of their time grieving for their lost mentor, the only other cat besides briarpaw they felt genuinely attached to. when they aren't hunting, they're paying respect at the flower fields. when they're given an apprentice in spiderpaw, however, cranberryjaw focuses their entire energy into training their apprentice. slowly, cranberryjaw grows attached to the apprentice. when nettlesnap kills goldenstar and is exiled by froststar, cranberryjaw and their apprentice follow nettlesnap. briarmask stays behind, and cranberryjaw considers this the greatest regret of their life, despite their morals leading them to leave groveclan. when froststar lashes out in a sacred place, killing nettlesnap, nettlestar returns to life and declares war between the newly formed ridgeclan and groveclan. cranberryjaw finds themself plagued by nightmares, realizing they would fight briarmask if they met in battle. when they were finally sent into battle, they were sent into a battle with their apprentice and go head to head with cloudstep, earning a scar on their shoulder and a realization that spiderfang is more to them than they realized. as the war ended, cranberryjaw throws themself into their duties as a warrior, hunting whenever their insomnia didn't get to them or when it did. they soon get assigned berrypaw as an apprentice, finding it fitting that they were given one of dahliabreeze's kits to train.
