Description
Husband of Queen Sunny Butterfly, the Adventurer. As you will, his story is sort of a reverse little mermaid story. I ended up making multiple sketches of him and decided to colour him in. His backstory is here too(and it is really long). These pictures are all from before he married Sunny, so he is approximately around nineteen in them, and still Prince of the Merfolk.

Their daughter, Novina's black hair came from Sunny's father Oak Wood.

STORY

Prince Christopher Shores was born a merman Prince, to parents King Poseidon and Queen Darrya. He was raised to stay within the Kingdom and not venture outwards to where other species lived, for fear of them being discovered and attacked, as other kingdoms believed them to be a myth. Christopher was a thoughtful, happy boy with two older brothers. He socialised with many of his fellow merfolk, and originally obediently followed his parent's advice not to venture towards the surface of the ocean.

One evening, Christopher was returning home after swimming to an area that was quite near to the Nirian Kingdom(A neighbouring Kingdom to Mewni); a fierce storm could be seen brewing from above. As the merman hastened to swim home, however, he spotted a commotion happening far away, at the water surface: a ship had capsized. Though Christopher attempted to ignore the incident and pass by, however, he soon spotted an unconscious, light blonde haired girl sinking towards him slowly from the water surface. Knowing that a girl of species that lived above the water would most likely not be able to breathe underwater like he did, Christopher swam up, and caught the girl in his arms. Putting his head above the water for the first time he spotted the rest of the boat inhabitants heading toward a large island(the Nirian Kingdom) in the distance. Quickly and making sure he wasn't spotted by anyone, he swam to the island and lifted the unconscious girl onto the shore. He watched her intently, checking if she was alive, and hurriedly left upon realising she was coming to.

The next day, Christopher was unable to quell his newfound fascination with what was beyond the water surface. On the pretext of taking a swim that afternoon, he swam back to the shores of the Nirian Kingdom. To his surprise, he recognised the girl he had rescued the night before, now in a regal yellow dress and a tiara(he now realised she was a Princess) sitting at the edge of the sand, singing to herself with tears in her eyes. Prince Christopher stopped a fair distance away and observed her, until she looked up and spotted him. Panicking, the merman dove underwater, hoping the girl would pass over it; instead, to his surprise, she waded into the water to find him. He nervously revealed himself to her, and he was once again pleasantly surprised when the Princess recognised him as her rescuer and expressed her gratefulness towards him. She introduced herself as Sunny Butterfly, Princess of the Kingdom of Mewni. While she expressed fascination with his species, Christopher asked her why she was crying. Sunny explained that her reason for being out at sea during a storm was because she wanted to become an adventurer like her father, King Oak. But by accidentally causing the destruction of the boat, her father had decided to host a ball in a few months for her to find a partner and concentrate on being a good Queen. Christopher expressed sympathy for her, and the pair talked for a while more before parting, promising to see each other again the next day.

For the next few months, Christopher kept going to see his new friend, even after she returned to Mewni. They would share details about each other's species and homes; and of course, each other, though Christopher never wore his crown in front of her and never told her he was a MerPrince. Eventually, Sunny also introduced him to her friends. Though apprehensive, Christopher became convinced that her friends would keep their secret as well. Christopher became incredibly fond of Sunny, but only became aware of his feelings for her after his eldest brother saw a 'dreamy' expression on his face and asked if he was in love.

Knowing he was already on the line for befriending someone above the surface, Christopher tried to suppress his feelings, but instead they grew stronger. After a while, as they were talking alone at the shores of Mewni, Christopher told her that he was in love with her. Unexpectedly, Sunny revealed she was in love with him too: but she also felt they were too different to be together. 'I can't breathe underwater, and you can't swim on land,' she admitted sadly. 'I don't want to hurt you, but, I don't know how we can work out.'

Sunny and Christopher began to drift apart. However, he was eventually confronted by his parents, who had sensed something was amiss with his 'long day swims', especially after his eldest brother relayed his suspicions of his brother being in love. Not being the best liar, Prince Christopher admitted to them openly his friendship with Princess Sunny and her friends. They did not take this well, confining Christopher to the castle and confiscating his wand, warning him never to go to the surface again, lest he put the Merfolk race in danger. However, his two older brothers came to his rescue that night. They retrieved his wand and also a tricky spell that their parents had hidden away; a spell to turn his tail into legs. The two wished him luck as they snuck him out of the castle, stating that they would still be there for him as his family.

As it turned out, the day for the masquerade ball to find Sunny a partner was a few days away. With the help of Sunny's friends, Christopher learned to walk on his new legs after performing the spell. The noble youths also gave him an outfit, a mask to wear to the ball, and dancing lessons, all without the Princess's knowledge.

Once he found an opening, he approached her and asked for a dance. Sunny seemed to relax, which relieved him, and slowly warmed up to him. After the dance had ended, Sunny's expression dampened, concerning him. When he asked her what was wrong, though, her reply was, 'You remind me of someone I know. But maybe my eyes are deceiving me.' Taking that as his cue, Christopher chose to lead her to the balcony, where he finally took off his mask. 'Your eyes don't deceive you.' He said with a smile.

Sunny was moved when Christopher finally admitted to her he was a MerPrince and had willingly left his Kingdom to be by her side. However, Princess Sunny was about to announce she had made her decision, when the ball was interrupted by the members of the Mewnian Science Council, who captured Christopher and had him pulled away.
Christopher realised that the council strangely knew that he was a merman, and, for a moment, thought Princess Sunny had betrayed him to impress her father.

Despite this, Christopher resisted the torture dealt to him by the council, as he refused to resume his merman form and expose his people. He was on the verge of passing out when Princess Sunny, her brother Prince Waverly and her friends interrupted. He could only see blurry images, and a distant sounding speech from Princess Sunny before he lost consciousness as he was carried out.

When he came to, he found out that it wasn't Sunny who had tipped him off; it was one of her friends, whom Sunny had angrily dealt with. However, Christopher was nursed back to health by the royal nurses, and also visited by the royal family. Queen Pipetia took a liking to the Prince and gave him and her daughter her blessing, and also gave Sunny her own ship. Things were awkward with King Oak at first, but eventually, King Oak accepted Christopher as his future son-in-law.

A few months afterward, Prince Christopher and Princess Sunny, along with Queen Pipetia, King Oak and Sunny's crew, journeyed to sign a peace pact with the Merfolk. King Poseidon and Queen Darrya had feared their son was dead, but were relieved to know he was alive and well. A few years after this pact was signed, Prince Christopher married Princess Sunny and established the Shores house with the help of his family. Their wedding was much celebrated, and though Christopher was practically going to be the frist non-Mewman King, no one actually minded. It was here that Christopher learned that in myths, it was said that having a mermaid or merman in one's midst would bring about good luck. While nothing too unfortunate occurred during Prince and later King Christopher's lifetime, this superstition has never been confirmed.
