Consider: an au where Spinel and Pearl were left alone in the garden together. They come to get “Pink” back together, as Harlequin Opal. They have a somewhat clingy romance, desperately reaching for the other when they’re separated. But it's a sweet, innocent love. She refers to herself as “us” and “we” until the end of the movie in this au.
(Design notes: Their arms separate at the shoulder like Opal’s does. Originally I was gonna give her four eyes and two arms but this looked better. And now their arms can twist together like licorice! They have little bells on their shoes so they dingle when they walk.)
