Description Winry doesn't get near enough credit in this series. She is one of the only ones who opens up to Ed, and, in turn, allows him to open up. Ed is obviously the main hero, but Winry helped make him what he is by loving him when he didn't hardly know what it even was.

EdWin forever!

This is so true winry did help Ed along his journey by making him stronger. A lot of people who have seen the first anime say that winry just cries a lot and doesn't do anything all but make automail. But she only cries because of the bad situations and without Ed's automail he wouldn't be able to stand. I really don't like the plot of the first manga for many reasons but the main 2 are that Roy killed Winry's parents and Ed and Al go to the "other world". I love brotherhood so much better it has a better ending.

I agree with you.

Except that Roy didn't kill Winry's parents, Scar did. Scar did in the manga and both animes.

I know that scar did in the manga but I thought he did in the anime I did watch it but I was curious on what happened in it and read about it on wiki and it said Roy accidently did and some people complained that all she did was glare at him and cry about it.

No, Scar definitely did. Someone must've edited the wiki page.

We know Winry loved him, but did he even love her back? In the manga he proposed, but I'm not even sure he saw her as more than a friend in the first animΓ© xD

I think he had feelings for her in the first anime, but he needed Al with him more

That's so true. Without Winry, Ed would have died a while ago.
Besides, she loves him enough to try and make him drink his milk. X3

Interesting, though the original story, IE the manga and Brotherhood anime, is far better than the first anime. I felt my brain dieing most at the end and the movie of the first anime, it was awful. Why couldn't it have been better?

IMO, I loved the first anime and Conqueror of Shambala.

Well when I finished the first anime it felt that I was ripped off, the villain had major flaws in her goals and motives, the end made Ed and Al look like morons, and the big twist with the gate just came out of nowhere. And I hoped the movie would at least fix the first anime's ending but it didn't. I understand that the first anime had to be different from the manga, since it was ongoing at the time, but I can't love it because of those painful changes they went with.

Really? To me, Dante had a very clearly defined goal and motive, she just ended up going about them all wrong. And the scene with Ed and Al reviving each other was, to me, very heart-wrenching and sweet, because it showed just how much they cared for each other. I thought the motif of going to a historically accurate world was very unexpected, original, and welcoming.
And the movie made the ending all that much better, because it allowed all the loose ends to be tied up (Wrath, Gluttony, Mustang, etc.) and let Ed and Al be together, which was what they wanted in the first place. I adored it.

Not saying the manga and Brotherhood had bad endings, they were incredibly excellent as well, I just believe, in my opinion, that the original anime had an unparalleled ending.

With Dante she need Ed and Al to make the Stone, problem is that she is an alchemist with years of experience more than the brothers and in the end didn't need them since she should have made one herself. The reviving each other thing wasn't all that well planned by the writers it makes Al look stupid since he has the Stone, it worked in the manga because Ed needed an arm and Al had no choice, with in the case of the first anime Al most likely could have (and should have) use the stone for both of them and it would all be over, but with what happened Al didn't do that and Ed just went to new lows by just sacrificing his whole body to get Al when someone as smart as Ed should have figured out a way to do it without giving up his body (like how Ed did it in the manga). For the "other world" thing it just comes out of nowhere while in the original story everything seems to tie together so perfectly, I mean beyond the gate in the first anime could have been Kingdom Hearts instead and it would have made as much sense as the "other world". With the movie things got confusing, though ignoring that the thing I can't forgive is that Ed and Al are both trapped in the "other world" forever, sure they care about each other but they didn't give a damn about anyone else's feelings (ex. Winry).

I know you like the first anime and but I just like debating things. x3

this is why I like brotherhood better

Yeah, it did have a happier ending ^^
But the original anime's was so powerful I don't think I can put any other ending above it.
