For the horns, hooves, mane, tail, and feathers do they have to be the same shade of a certain color or can they be different shades?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yami-maru In reply to Hogwarts-Bound [2014-05-14 04:54:46 +0000 UTC]

They have to be the same shade they eye is always the opposite color

so blue is orange, red is green and purple is yellow anything else mixes accordigly

Are there any rules for paint markings?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yami-maru In reply to GoopyG0ldfish [2013-11-13 17:25:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes there are. white cannot be over 50 % as white is a Rare color i do not want people going around  that rule by making a horse with the majority white due to point markings

Like so: www.google.co.za/imgres?sa=X&r…

I know its not in the breed's colour. Just maybe one in a Million

Yami-maru In reply to Ysval [2013-09-28 18:20:54 +0000 UTC]

TalonV [2013-09-11 04:21:53 +0000 UTC]

Would dark versions of the allowed mane colors be acceptable? :3 I've got this black chestnut roan stallion with a dark red mane that I designed just for fun and I think I'm falling in love....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yami-maru In reply to TalonV [2013-09-11 04:23:24 +0000 UTC]

yes they are. the gene would just be the red gene for the mane and tale.

But remember the eye would be deep/ dark green

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TalonV In reply to Yami-maru [2013-09-11 04:30:12 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

Hmm... okay. :3 One question... how exactly are the opposite colors figured out... just for future reference? I was under the impression that if one inverted the colors that would be the exact opposite? (It came out light blue that way.... ^^)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yami-maru In reply to TalonV [2013-09-11 04:33:06 +0000 UTC]

its basic color theory. you could also google a color wheel.

basically

Red - green

Green - red

Yellow- purple

purple- yellow

orange - blue

blue - orange

black - white

white - black

then everything else follows those

TalonV In reply to Yami-maru [2013-09-11 04:41:31 +0000 UTC]

Ah! I got it now! There's several different 'opposite/complementary' color sets -

1. The traditional model - Red/Green etc - the one you're using (oldest, used mostly by artists)

2. The CYMK - Red/Cyan (used in printing)

3. The RGB Model - Red/Cyan (used in computer screens, TVs etc)

All my art programs I have ever used always use the last two, and I never took art classes so I never knew any different. So... in a manner of speaking, we're both right.... just one's usable and one's not. XD

(Wiki page that just taught me something - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compleme… )

TalonV In reply to Yami-maru [2013-09-11 04:48:57 +0000 UTC]

I also read that it should be lighter if the opposite color is darker, and vice versa....^^ So many views on the same thing....driving me crazy... how am I s'psed ta learn somethin', eh? XD

I'll go see if I can find a dark shade of green that looks good...cyan looks a lot better.....XP

Yami-maru In reply to TalonV [2013-09-11 04:50:30 +0000 UTC]

Yami-maru In reply to TalonV [2013-09-11 12:00:57 +0000 UTC]

i like it. hnnng. but its so different from the other elmas zo. because their eye colors were usually the same shade hnng *ponders* can i see it dark greed as well?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TalonV In reply to Yami-maru [2013-09-11 12:18:08 +0000 UTC]

Okie... :3 It'll match me... I'm a complete and utter oddball...XP

sta.sh/01f3ityktfdc You can hardly even see the eye color... imho, I think due to the color value, and opposites, it should be lighter... X3 But the dark would be okay if I can just get a few shades lighter.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yami-maru In reply to TalonV [2013-09-11 12:25:07 +0000 UTC]

as long as it is dark the shade honestly doesnt matter. ive done it with a few orange eyes i had xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TalonV In reply to Yami-maru [2013-09-11 12:29:39 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I'll use a more emerald/peacock green, just a little lighter than the second one, as the eye base. And.... can I make the eye highlights bright, so there's an illusion of a lighter or somewhat light green when it's really not? :3
