I'm actually beginning to think what I bet many others have already thought: The episode of MLP where Twilight time-travels then her past self says "Is there some kind of epic pony war in the future?" is some kind of reference to the Luna Vs Calestria (Or however you spell it) civil war dealio.
Either way, I think I support Luna, even though she's somewhat more aloof, she's at the same time more down to Earth, she seems to have the full spectrum of emotional capability. Can you picture Calestria (again, how the f**k do I spell that?) giving the go ahead to launch any kind of major attack on anything? She's a lot more of the stereotypical princess softie image than Luna (although Calesti-whatever DOES actually do some fighting at the end of the 2nd series, she gets her ass handed to her pretty much), Luna on the other hand, I dunno...
But one last argument which I think others have made in the past: WHY, oh WHY, are they princesses? I mean, there is NO mention of their mother and/or father in any of the programme's episodes, so wouldn't Celestria or Luna be Queens? That just rattles me.

yea, this is basically a refrence to the whole fanmade-war between the pricesses, and they are princesses in order for the target audience '5-13 yar old girls' to relate to them...cuz evey girl wants to be a princess lol. i have an idea, im thinking of continueing this little story of the whole princess war in either pictures, a comic, or if i can get flash (lol, like that will ever happen...). and thank-you~

Initially Twilight was supposed to be holding a grenade next to the cracked wall...but if the wall is cracked...what the point of the grenade o.o? When i was drawing this the whole 'Rise of the new Lunar Republic' came to mind, so this is just twilight trying to break into one of Celestia's many brainwashing/training grounds, and this location just happened to be trining pegasi...oh dear I spoke too much o.o

This is cool...I feel like I've seen something similar (right down to future!Twilight and the "OBEY" posters) though that doesn't change the fact that this is good in its own right.
