most of process is pretty common except for the part I put down values and lock the multiply layer to change colors.
I just practiced, messed up some drawings, and looked for solutions to make my drawings better and came up with my current technique

For this kind of coloring, I fill with base color, then use desaturated purple on multiply layer to put down values, then lock that multiply layer so I can change desaturated purple to any color I want. Then I color the dark places using airbrush and draw highlights using hard edged brush. Touch up a bit more, blend some areas, and I am done(: pretty simple.
